The recent Dexter finale (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCnoxf78npE) was one of my favorite finales in awhile.

What are yours?

I'm personally a fan of the series finale of Roseanne :greenie:

But, the BEST SERIES/SEASON FINALE OF ALL TIME is most definitely the series finale of Six Feet Under. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iY-_V2Y2uKE) Very rarely do movies/t.v./books/etc. make me cry but jesus christ. Jesus smurfing christ! When I first saw this I was sobbing like a BABY. It still makes me eyes water.

edit: I just watched the SFU finale again. Yup, still makes me blubber :( The parts that get me most are Ruth dying and seeing Nate Sr and Jr. and when David dies and young Keith catches the football and smiles at him. OOHHHHHHHHH MY HEART </3

I think season 3 finale of Battlestar Galactica was pretty damn epic. You just had the all along he watch tower song going, they were going into a big battle, something wtf worthy happens and it was just all around cool.

Yeah, 4th season finale of Dexter was intense.

On that same note, the 4th and 5th season finales of House were incredible. The show tended to disappoint on season finales the first three years, but the last two were just great. The 4th season finale was by far the most powerful episode of the series.

I can't think of any others that really stood out to me at the moment. But I do have quite a backlog of TV shows I need to get around to watching eventually.

I agree about that Six Feet Under finale. On a similar note the final episode of Blackadder Goes Forth is devastating in its final scene. In terms of last ever episodes (to look at that side of the question), it's hard to think of many others, even a show as great as Seinfeld in my opinion was a little below par with its finale. Though the very last scene of The Sopranos has that ambiguous angle that I like, even if it drove some people mad.

And Who Shot Mr Burns Part I of course XD

Who Shot Mr. Burns was an awesome finale! I agree with you on Seinfeld. I thought they ended that show with a really stupid closer. I did not enjoy.

I'm not a huge fan of the Sopranos but I know how it ends. I actually think it was kind of fitting. A definitive ending / death of Tony would be like ... meh.

Agreed on Dexter S4 finale, and Life on Mars + Ashes to Ashes. Both brilliant series, with great finales. Although the Ashes to Ashes finale left a lot of questions unanswered. :p I hope the following series answers some of them!

Lost season 3 finale. Charlie's death and finding out it was a flashforward. Awesome.

I agree that Six Feet Under had the best series finale ever! I really felt like crying during the ending. And yes, just thinking about it again is getting me teary eyed. :p

Other than that, I was really happy with Battlestar Galactica's series finale. I know some weren't so happy, but I felt at peace at the end, so it's up there in my top five finales. But I loved every finale for Galactica.

This was awesome. The Unit season 2 finale was so good the first time i saw it as well. And PrisonBreak season 1 finale, THAT was a cliff-hanger.

Alias season 2 finale was such a mindsmurf, it was amazing. One of those, "I think I will DIE waiting for the new season" type cliffhangers.

House season 4 finale was epic too. Just about shattered my heart into tiny little pieces. And the season 2 finale for The Office gave me the warm and fuzzies.

BSG series finale made me want to stab my eyes out it was so awful. But I guess that's something for another thread.

Please remind me of what happened in that episode. It's been a while since I've seen the show.

The finales of season 2, 4, 5 and 7 in Buffy are brilliant. Also, Angel season 2 finale. I love Lorne.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Waitwaitwait!

Hear me out!

Yes, much of the series was AWFUL . . . however, the last episode of the show was absolutely perfect.

It was pretty good and made for the craving of more but alas the cancellation.

It made me want more, too. But, also it served as a perfect ending. Because it's sort of like it ends with the "beginning."

It's the one where Sydney finds out that Francie has been replaced by some other chick and they have this INSANE chick fight in their apartment. Syd kills Fake Francie and blacks out. She wakes up in freakin' Hong Kong and can't remember a thing. She goes to a safe house and meets Vaughn who tells her that she's been missing for 2 years. And then you see that Vaughn has a mothersmurfing WEDDING RING on his finger! Dun dun dun. I was a hardcore Syd/Vaughn shipper at the time, so the ending made me delirious.

And Buffy Season 5 finale made me weep like a little girl. It was the most perfect ending I could have thought of for Buffy.

I agree with Buffy season 5 finale; it was easily the most powerful episode of the series.
