why FFIX is better than FFVII

I prefer FFVII to both FFVIII and IX. But that's just my opinion.

FFIX doesnt have:
A whiney emo tit of a main character who has 0 personailty
A woman who has more breasts than use
An increadibly annoying storyline which I find causes replayability to be hindered by. (Due to having to sit through the whole 'Clouds lifestream past' bit)
Materia

FFIX has:
Decent sidequests
Ozma
Quina
A better storyline
Epicness.

Albiet, the trance system and cardgame lets IX down a little, but it is still one of the best Final Fantasys. FFVII fanboys: stfu

why are so many people excited about being able to download the game on the PSN network ?

Of course I would whine if people were trying to kill me constantly and I had constant encounters with monsters trying to eat me and I found out I had to try to save the world.

While IX is my favourite, I still don't think you're being very constructive yourself. Opinions are fine, it's the way in which you present it that has a negative effect on how others percieve your posts.

I replayed IX more times than i can count and it never gets old. And to be fair, i will replay my final fantasy VII cause i havent played it in god knows how long :p

I can't I have to be the one to do this because I'm the FFIX fanboy around here, formerly having a schizophrenic gimmick that feature both Zidane and Garnet/Dagger, but I digress and here we go. A commercial for Coca-Cola doesn't instantly make FFIX better than any game. Look into the game to find how superior it is to other FFs. For example, the characters were all put well into the story, the setting is more like what veteran Final Fantasy players expect from an FF, it houses the most realistic romantic subplot in the PS1 era and possibly the entire series. But certainly not due to a Coca-Cola commercial, it doesn't make me want to play FFIX, it makes me want to drink coke.

look at the charecter stitistics (mispelled), in 7 all the chaecters seemed human 9even red XIII, who wasn't) in 9, each individual charecter has he/his own goals and opinions about things, their own agendas, and each one contrasted the other.

steiner wanted to kill zidane (basicly)
steiner how ever did work with zidane to protect garnet.
steiner got along great with vivi, who was great pals with zidane
garnet and zidane had a lot of friction between them, but the still wanted to be near eatch other.
which then puts itself back at the top of this list

Seriously though, but fans who prefer IX over VII may appreciate the return to traditional medieval/feudalistic settings. It pays a lot of tribute to previous FFs, giving a lot fan service to those who looked hard enough. Just off the top of my head, FFV music can be played in Black Mage Village and in Lindblum weapon shop, Zidane makes a passing reference to Cloud.

Kuja is a brilliant villain too. You don't feel much for Sephiroth and his pining for his mother, since a) his mother's a freak and b) not really his mother. But when Kuja goes nuts and finds out his fate, it's kind of sad.

I'm in the fairly firm "I do not like FFIX" camp. I don't know why. It is pretty enjoyable, and the many (many) times I've tried playing through it, I get a good way through before I get bored. But I always get bored at some point. I don't really know why, but I always lose interest and just stop playing.

I understand it was their intent so it doesn't make too much sense to criticize, but basically it felt too old-school to me. I really don't like Zidane (I'd apparently rather have an emo idiot to a flippant one), and the characters I do like - Freya, Beatrix, and Lani, especially - get a hell of a lot less time than I'd like and that, in Freya's case, than they deserve.

I dunno. I can see why people would like it but it just doesn't work for me. In contrast to FFVII, where I am on my 21st playthrough. Though this means less than it seems; I must have played through the first half of FFIX about a dozen times :p

both games are fantastic. ff9 could have been even better if they had made better use of simultaneous parties like in ff6, and if they didn't close off towns on disc changes. but ff7 has its flaws too, the biggest being graphics, overwrought Cloud story scenes, and only three characters in the party at a time. i really enjoyed playing both of them, though.

You all fail. This thread has limitless nerd rage possibility and you had to spoil it by being "reasonable." Pshaw.

FFVII is one of the worst games ever. It's all about some emo punk with an Oedipus Complex who wants to drop a rock on the world for no real reason. Then you look at the heroes and we have Mr. "I Have A Small Penis" as a hero. And he's also emo.
Then there's Mr. T, Ms. Big Tits, Miko, Wannabe Ninja, a Dog, a Robot Kitty and Cid.

Cid is cool.

FFVII is just overrated and terrible. One of the worst games I've ever had the misfortune of playing.







Okay I think FFIX is better but VII is okay. It actually does a few things better than 9. I like how in 7 every party member got their own subplot that we get to resolve in the game. IX kinda forgot about most of the cast after Disk 2.
