The upcoming 9th season of The Biggest Loser on NBC features a contestant named Michael Ventrella, who holds the distinction of being the first ever contentant to weigh over 500 pounds.
In a preview trailer for the new season, which premiers tonight at 8pm EST, it is revealed that Ventrella weighs 526 pounds. Plus, there's a pair of brother who weigh in at 484 and 485 pounds, for a combined total of 969 pounds! The previous record holder was a woman named Shay Sorrells, from the previous season, whose starting weight was 476 pounds. At the finale, she weighed 304 pounds, losing 172 pounds, equivalent to 36.15% of her original body weight. The winner of the season was Danny Cahill, who went from 430 pounds to 191 pounds, losing 239 pounds, equivalent to 55.58% of his original body weight.
