At this rate, I'll probably send just as many Private Messages here, as I will make posts. I used to empty my PM receipts every once and a while. Starting 8-15-2007, a little longer than a year's time after my joining of this forum, I stopped and used the receipts as a counter of the amount of PM's I've sent.

I joined the forum in June 2006, it's now Jan. 2010. That's about 42 months ago. I've made about 9636 posts, divide that by 42 and you get an approximate post per month: ~229.57... Now let's take out the 13 months I didn't keep track of my PM's from my posts

~229.57...*13 = 2982.5

Subtract from my ~9636

9636-2983 = 6653
I have 6,184 confirmed private message receipts. That's pretty dang close to a 1 to 1 ratio!

Can you approximate YOUR private message to post ratio?

Over five years, this is 5.4 PMs sent per day. However, it's important to remember that my PM count has only gone up by about 1000 in the last year and a half. The mass majority of my PMs were sent in a one year period from august 2005 to august 2006. Assuming half of my PMs were sent in that time, that becomes 13.4 PMs per day.

20,612 posts from 97 months = That's 212.5 posts a month.

I'm constantly clearing out my PM box since I don't have unlimited PMs storage anymore and a huge chunk of my box is devoted to EoY submissions. Right now, I have 1,402 PMs.

So it would seem that it would be a bit under a 15:1 ratio, if I did that correctly. Either way, I don't PM much, and I post a lot.

So that's 9609/(408+6*900)
Which equals 1.65 posts to PMs. PMs to post is 1/1.65, which equals .606.
