Im not talking about piracy, (well in a way it could be seen as that way, but its no longer produced:love:)

I have few movies id like to transfer over to digital because

A. They were only released on this format (VHS, Laserdisk)
B. This movie was re-released on another format but croped to full screen.
c. This movie has extras and all kinds of cool content never again re-released on any format.

I have Cats dont Dance. A pretty common movie really cheap to get on dvd and VHS.

However it was only released Wide screen on Laserdisk and lucky me I found it on ebay! But i had to get it from France, what it was doing their is beyond me:eek: And it was brand new:D

Another one I have is Homeward bound the assume Disney movie:D
That one was only released widescreen on LD. However the 2nd movie was released widescreen but no one cares about that one:p

Or sometimes a movie you love you have only to find out it looks so much better in another region but its not available in your own language X_X

Remember the little mermaid? The 1975 version i posted a while back about?
YouTube - The Little Mermaid 1975 Toei original- Marina's song when a mermaid comes of age DVD (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nMGbOR0XsQ)

The english version was only on VHS. But a DVD was released in PAL in Spain

I added the english Audio track to the DVD to share with who ever wanted it.

Its sad when we chance formats, we lose so much:cry:

Now back to my question.

Whats the best way to capture analog?

The laserdisk player has S and composite out put.
I can pop the dvd recorder and put the laserdisk out put into the player and hit record and it records. My only issue with it is it has interlacing seen in one of the cats dont dance screens.

Another person told me to capture with a camcorder. Something about DV codec?
Does anyone have one of those high end cameras are they able to accept imput and a record option?

And how many old movies do you wish were rereleased in a newer format?

Mines would be
Island of the Blue Dolphins
Suzie Q( i dont think this one was released ever in the usa i do know it was released in Germany, a lot of the Disney good stuff is in Germany)
Fire Emblem the OVAs
The Final Fantasy OVAs
Okay im dont with my rant:roll2
