I am no longer going to expect to hate a remake because it is a remake.
I aim to judge all things as fairly as possible, even though it is ultimately still my own opinion - I will study things carefully, and at the end of the day I will judge all remakes as individuals within themselves. True, they will be compared to their original counting parts to some extent, but they will in the end be rated as there own film.
Of course some remakes will be inferior to the original, and some may even be (in my opinion) just a crap film, period. But there will be times when they are better (I found the Chocolate Factory remake to be MILES better than the original).
The main problem we have is, that we all get used to things, and when something we love is scheduled for a remake, we feel somewhat offended - we "know" that the original is perfect as it is, anything else is bound to be rubbish!
But is that really so? I used to think so, but now I'm not so sure - even if something I really love ends up having a remake, I am going to view the remake as an alternative, whether I like or not will depend on the actual film.
