Here we go again! Final Fantasy developer Square Enix (http://forums.eyesonff.com/wiki/Square_Enix) continuing mentioning "Final Fantasy VII" and "remake" in the same breath.

Previously, Final Fantasy VII character designer mentioned the prospects of a FFVII remake, and then FFVII game director Yoshinori Kitase (http://forums.eyesonff.com/wiki/Yoshinori_Kitase) mentioned how he was never tired of answering questions about FFVII remakes. Now?

When asked by game site Siliconera which game FFXIII director Motomu Toriyama (http://forums.eyesonff.com/wiki/Motomu_Toriyama) would want to remake, he replied, "That would be Final Fantasy VII!"

"If we had the manpower and the time to work on a project, if we were to remake Final Fantasy VII with the quality of Final Fantasy XIII (http://forums.eyesonff.com/wiki/Final_Fantasy_XIII) it would become a tremendous project," Toriyama continued. "If we can get the number of people we need by all means that would be the one I would really want to remake."

In 2006, Square Enix released a "technical demo" depicting Final Fantasy VII as it would look in the PlayStation 3 (http://forums.eyesonff.com/wiki/PlayStation_3). The game was originally released on the PlayStation (http://forums.eyesonff.com/wiki/PlayStation) 1 in 1997.

How about forgetting about it and going onto FFXV. FFVII is fine as it is.

sounds like there were a lot of ifs in there too. If there is an if, it's probably not happening.

Not to mention, we all know how the game was. Do we really need to make the SAME game with just better graphics. That's part of the games charm. FFVI is my favorite game ever. and i would never want to see it remade FFXIII style. It takes away what made the game what it was.

and was nearly run off by the negative comments from FFVII fans.
Heck I'm an FFVII fan.rotfl...

I still expect them to remake the game as they would make a ton of money by doing it.
But I do agree it needs more of a story than just a remake with FFXIII graphics.
I'm not in favor of them remaking it.I think the game as someone else has already said was good enough as it was for the time and I would prefer them just go on to FFV and the other games in the sequence..as well as make some games they hold the rights to they've either abandoned or neglected altogether.
But I expect the profit motive will encourage them to remake the game.

:p

I would enjoy a remake, as long as they left what they could unchanged as far as the story and script goes. I think pretty much everyone in Square who has commented on it has said that they'd like to do it someday, but it's always said in a way that seems unlikely, at least within the next five years.

What, don't you people want to see Cloud, in HD, crossdressing? That plus you'd actually get to hear him say "anything you want daddy".

Just think of the possibilities.

I really would want to see that. I'm curious to know just how the hell Steve Burton could pull off a sexy-"girlish" voice. :roll2

Cloud crossdressing in HD is about the only reason I would want a remake.
