Beyond that, I think if you put all the over-hype aside, it still offers a rather intriguing story. The fact that it's told in a slightly convulted way actually works in it's favour, I think.

The music definitely makes that scene, it's so eerie. Really creepy, but one of my favourite moments of VII.

The thing is for me I wasn't aware the game was hyped when I got it - I just read a Walkthrough of the game, and it sounded cool, so I got it, and now it's one of my most favorite games ever. I didn't expect anything other than what I saw.
