I swear to god if one of you makes a cake-related Portal reference I will crush you :nonono:

This is a thread for sharing/discussing your favorite cake recipes! Mostly because I want more cake recipes. I only have my grandmother's and it's top secret so I can't share it :(

It's this awesome caramel heath cake and we will rule the world with it someday!

I love carrot cake. :D Butter cream frosting is the best and since carrot cake uses that more often I like carrot cake.

I often finding myself baking chocolate cakes covered with chocolate frosting. Then I separate all of the cream from a bag of oreos, cover the outside of the cake with the crushed cookies, then put eight discs made from flattened balls of oreo cream on top of the cake, and then top each one of those with a strawberry (or large, spherical pieces of red candy if I can find anything other than jawbreakers). Everyone always says my cakes are delicious and moist

I'm more about decorating so I just used boxed cake. I should start making a denser cake though; they're easier to decorate. My sister-in-law got me a really nice cake recipe book recently. I made the peach cake from it and it was yummy.

But, really, I'm all focused on the decorating.

Sometimes I used fondant.

Decorating the inside is fun too.

If you're in the mood for some chocolate cake and in need of a quick fix, here's a simple recipe to follow.

1 Mug
4 Tablespoons cake flour
4 Tablespoons sugar
2 Tablespoons cocoa
1 Egg
3 Tablespoons milk
3 Tablespoons vegetable oil

1. Pour and mix flour, sugar, and cocoa in the mug.
2. Add the egg and mix.
3. Pour in milk and vegetable oil and mix well.
4. Place in microwave for 3 minutes.
5. ???
6. PROFIT!

Proto you are bananas.

Protip: To cut a few calories from your cake, grab a box of cake mix, add a can of diet soda, stir and bake. No other ingredients required. I hear white cake mix with a diet strawberry soda is fabulous.

Vaern, that cake looks amazing :o Seriously, I want you to come over and make that for me ;-;

I love to make cakes, but I have yet to make any from scratch. I totally plan to sometime in the future though, especially after having picked up one of those Betty Crocker magazine things with recipes for cakes in them :D

Do pancakes count as cake?

I made this recipe over the weekend and it was so damn good. I doubt I'll ever go back to eating regular pancakes again.

Cornmeal Buttermilk Pancakes:

# 3/4 cup unbleached all purpose flour
# 3/4 cup yellow cornmeal
# 2 tablespoons sugar
# 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
# 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
# 1/2 teaspoon salt
# 1 1/4 cups buttermilk
# 2 large eggs

Mix in the dry ingredients in one bowl, and then whisk together the wet ingredients in another bowl. Combine the two and mix together. Don't over mix though or you'll get tough pancakes instead of light and fluffy.

Heat up a skillet to medium heat and fry them up. Top them with some maple syrup and honey butter and it's perfection.

I know absolutely nothing about cake recipes but my wife made a July 4th cake once in the design of the American flag. Very fruity, too. Lemon cake with vanilla icing topped with blueberries for stars and raspberries for red stripes.

Also, this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYrkQL1bX4A&feature=related).
