My current setup is: Lenna as White Mage, Bartz as Knight, Galuf as Black Mage, Faris as Thief. I try to keep them in jobs that I feel their personalities suit. Lenna seems to be the type for a healer, Bartz is the main guy with a sword who protects his friends to the best of his abilities, Faris was raised by Pirates so she seems to fit the role of the rules-were-made-to-be-broken character, and Galuf is the old man who doesn't feel he's young enough for a sword so he throws fireballs instead.

Subject: What is your usual setup?

I guess the subtopic is: What kinds of jobs do you think suit which characters best?

I know you can't do this because it would be a rough gaming experience, but I always thought of Bartz as the guy of many roles, so I like him at "Bare" or "Freelancer", or whatever it's called in the Gameboy version.

Actually, that's a good point. But yeah, that would be quite difficult to pull off D; I just might try it sometime...

I usually give Faris the power classes like Ninja or Archer and Bartz gets the tank class like Knight. Lenna usually gets the offensive magic classes; Black, Blue, Summoner and Galuf/Krile get the support classes; White, Time. White Mage Krile is awesome.

Vermy's classes are far superior to mine :(

Galuf as dancer. The rest just fall where they may.

Faris is my primary Thief because of the whole pirate thing. Also: Ninja, Hunter

Bartz is both my tank and melee specialist, including melee buffing, so Knight, Sorcerer, Samurai

Lenna gets magic, especially the non Black/White stuff: Summoner, Blue Mage and Geomancer

Galuf, in my mind he is always an old Knight-type donning his sword and armor to save the world one last time, but in the game he seemed to fit better as a caster the last time I played many years ago.

Krile, is a Dancer and Time Mage.

I think I may have made Krile my White Mage and Trainer well.

Bartz as normal with x-fight & 2-handed. 8 attacks in one go is very useful.
Lenna & krile as black mages with white magic.
Faris I can never decide on so she always shifts through jobs.

I usually give all the macho classes to Bartz and Faris, I just can't see Faris being talked into a sissy class. She's usually an ass kicker melee class with Bartz. Lenna and Krile are my mages. Galuf usually does both. Not only cause he's kinda geared in the middle but also cause I feel an "old soldier" should be well rounded compared to the "kids".

I usually keep all of the characters with no jobs, when I have acquired enough abilities for all of the them.

For some reason, I've always liked the Blue Mages. O:

Bartz is a physical attacker, with jobs such as Thief, Ninja, etc.

Lenna is a summoner as well as Time Mage.

Galuf and Krille are Black mage and White mage. If only because Krille's white mage sprite is adorable.

Faris is whatever she wants to be. Usually something physical, but she also has Blue Magic for support.

Sometimes I use a job for a specific area, for example I have 4 bards when getting the Golem summon. Requiem makes that battle so easy :p

Mime... Mime... Mime... Mime.

Variants of Mime... Krile has ye olde standard Mime setup, while Bartz has a variant of it so he can wield the stronger weapons... Lenna has Call and some mage stuff, while Faris is a Blue Mage/Dragoon because they're my favorite jobs and she's my favorite character.

But, I haven't mastered every job yet so I'm just cycling through what needs to be levelled. The endgame bonus jobs are depressingly bad...

In the start I always end up with Bartz as a Knight, Galuf as a Monk, Lenna as a white mage and Faris as a black mage. I don't particularly use Black mage much, but if I use it it's usually Faris because she looks awesome as a black mage :D

after more jobs start opening up I don't really care who's what, so all choices are practical choices from then on.

In the start I always end up with Bartz as a Knight, Galuf as a Monk Thief, Lenna as a white mage and Faris as a black mage.* I don't particularly use Black mage much, but if I use it it's usually Faris because she looks awesome as a black mage :DThen after Bartz learns Double Grip I change him into a Mystic Knight as soon as possible.
Galuf changes into a Monk with Steal and Lenna and Faris play around as Time Mage and Summoner respectively, with their White and Black magic as secondaries.

After this I pretty much just think up cool combos and aim for them at once, like Knight with Two Swords and Black Mage with Brawl or something. :p

*this is only because I happen to love the Knight/Thief/White Mage/Black Mage formation - in that order.

I remember this was a reason I had her as a white mage too. :)

I always give my characters 2 main jobs that no other chracter uses as well as mastering a few jobs that all the characters use (Thief and Monk)

Bartz: Sword Mage, Knight, Samurai
Lenna/Reina: White Mage, Summoner
Galuf/Krile: Black Mage, Blue Mage
Faris: Ninja, Time Mage

That is the standard set up but I usually give them more jobs to master (I cant remember them all right now)

Bartz: Knight, Mystic Knight, Gladiator(GBA version)

Leila: White Mage, Time Mage, Mime

Galuf/Krile: Black Mage, Summoner, Mime

Faris: Monk, Dragoon

I would never move on to the next job until their first jobs would gwt mastered.

Don't remember exactly. But I did build evenly about the classes, but focusing on White, Black, and Time Magic.

Maybe Monk as a forth to master HP+30% to survive boss battles. My team was mages with High HP.

I would normally level mages appropriately to the level of magic currently available, because they were very easy to level. I'd try and keep at least one character as a ninja and/or ranger for their mastered ability, but also try to get a few thief abilities along the way. I switched in a Blue mage if there was a spell if i wanted to learn and tried to keep Blue magic on at least one character throughout. Most of the time, i would switch in classes as i needed them, bards for the dragon mountain in galufs world and mystic knight for bosses with a weakness i could exploit.

Basically i had fun with it =)

Since I'm still leveling my characters up the job ranks, I have no real strict grouping unless the battles call for it - basically I'm changing my characters through the jobs fairly constantly. :D
