And I now realize how much I use the site, now that I can't-- (http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2361778,00.asp) until they fix it in an hour or two.

What reference websites do you often use, and how often do you use them?

I use Wikipedia just as much as the next person, but I often visit webster.com for dictionary stuff and such. I also go to Smogon (http://www.smogon.com/) and Bulbapedia (http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Main_Page) for my Pokémon nerd-moments.

EDIT: It would come back up just as I post this. Weird. It's been out all afternoon.

Dictionary.com although very rarely. I have a little pocket dictionary here at home, but I forget about it quite easily.

Wikipedia is definitely one of my major ones, as I use it every time I want to know what something is (though I realize it's not very reliable, so I check other sources out too)

I use google more often than yahoo for searches nowadays, which is funny, because I used to use only yahoo.

ign is my place for video games, and lyrics.com for lyrics. If I can't find it there, I go to getlyrics.com. If neither one works, Google, baby

Justin, do you like Wikipe-Tan? I came across it the other day and thought "Justin would find this adorable".

I wasn't even aware of such a mascot. Then again, they've made a -tan of pretty much every modern operating system and everything on the internet, so I'm not surprised. Kind of cute, I guess, making a -tan of everything gets old fast. :|

I've never thought Wikipedia could crash. It's like google crashing, almost unthinkable. But then again, google isn't always begging for money.

Google has no need to beg for money because it's affiliated with Microsoft nowadys, iirc.

I do not know what's the matter. I can still use Wikipedia. The english and the german one.

Like I said, it's back up now. It was down globally for a few hours, though.

Wikipedia, Dictionary.com, Thesaurus.com, tyda.se (Sw/En word translation). Those would be my most common ones. Sometimes use rhymezone.com and onelook.com when I'm in a wordplay mood.

Also, for those who don't already know it, I'll grab this opportunity to mention WolframAlpha (http://www.wolframalpha.com/), which is a pretty cool project in the works. I'd explain it, but it's better to watch the screencast (http://www.wolframalpha.com/screencast/introducingwolframalpha.html). Or try some searches, like:

GDP per capita USA vs. Sweden
or

hematite, magnetite, chromite
or

n-grams "it was the best of times it was the worst of times"

I use Wikipedia and dictionary.com I mainly use Wikipedia or Amazon so I can just get album artwork, or song information.

Is Google a reference site too?

Going to Wikipedia is one of my fav past times to go to.. I started going to Wiki nearly four years back... I do believe there was time that some utter crap was put up on it.. But I see now people are taking time and effort to make that site something quite legit....

Hats of to them for doing a good job and taking effort for repairing such a popular place...:thumb:

I LOVE Bulbapedia. But only for annoying purposes

I think Bulbapedia is crashing too :(

It does that often. It always comes back as soon as you find what you're looking for, though. :mad2:

Smogon does the same thing. :(

Wikipedia and WolframAlpha have gotten me through years of mathematics and physics.
