I've started playing Final Fantasy VI for the first time and thought I'd do some speedpaints as I play. I'm only at the very beginning, so I figured a few of the initial enemies would be a good place to start (it's fun trying to interpret the little sprites) until I have a better understanding of the characters. I am also replaying FFVII so expect a bit of world hopping. I mostly like speedpainting, but I might end up doing sketches, or more finished paintings as well.

Below are the first two speedpaints I did this evening. Comments, crit's and insults most welcome. :)

More to follow... I guess. :|

Wow I really like the first one... I like the cloud texture you did for the first one.. Not soo hot about the second one but you always have room for improvement! :D Cant wait to see the next set!

Holy crap ola those are awesome! The second one the legs are a bit weird but not terribly so. I have a problem myself with drawing animal legs.

Those are AWESOME! The first one's ghoulish nature was captured perfectly, and the second one looks like it's ready to attach unsuspecting adventurers :D Awesome job! :thumb:

The first one is really, really cool. They're both good, but the first is definitely the best.

Keep 'em coming. I'm very interested in seeing your future interpretations.

Thanks for the interest folks. And thanks for the crit's as well... I should work on refining the underlying structure of beasties instead of just going with my initial marks. :)

Not much time to play FF but I'm aiming for a FF fest this Easter Monday. Anyway, below is a super quick speedpaint of a guard. I might render it up a little more, and kill two innocent birdies with one stone by turning him into a Marshal.

Question: Is the Marshal a boss? The set up seems to suggest he is, but maybe they become frequent additions to back up the grunts? I ask because it would be nice to think I could do a speedpaint for every boss in the game.

Another Question: Do you guys prefer attached images that you have to click on, or offshore scribbles that are present and correct upon viewing?

Regards,
Munin

Since he has the Decisive Battle as boss music you can count this battle as a mini boss battle like you can count the Alexander materia "Snow" lady in Final Fantasy VII a mini boss because "Still more Fighting" is played. So are the "Monster-in-a-box" monsters mini bosses.

I would love to see Kefka and Final Kefka.

What an odd thing to spend your time doing. And, yet, you are doing it so very well.

Is speedpainting as obvious as it sounds? I would like to know what it entails, because these are awesome.

Wow you're so good at this! Can you like record yourself speed painting? I think that'd be awesome to watch!

I agree with everyone that the first one is particularly good. It looks very creepy, and the mouth and teeth are very well done.

The soldier you more recently posted is very good, too. I like the details on the clothing and equipment.

Is speed painting a type of improvisation using a program such as Photoshop?

Any who, these are really good!
