One of my favorite parts of this game is (spoilers?)

The scene in Terra where Zidane finds out about himself and then tries to fight his way on his own - with the other continuing to back him up despite him acting like he doesn't need anyone.

I don't know - it's just such a powerful scene, the music that plays he ("You're Not Alone") is a beutiful piece and it's one of the FF tunes that affects me, I just love it.

I really like that bit too, seeing everyone work together to effectively bitch-slap Zidane back to normality - and You Are Not Alone is a great piece of music.

I know a lot of people hate that part because it's over so quickly that it seems pointless to include it to begin with. I can agree that it's a bit rushed over and definitely wouldn't have minded if it lasted longer, but overall I enjoyed the scene. Music is great.

It pretty much proved to me that Zidane was stupid. What does being a genome and coming from Terra have anything to do with who you are if you've never acted like Garland wanted your entire life? Why should you start listening to him now? Zidane stop being a *****.

Yeah, because finding out about your origins (not to mention having someone effectively try to erase your personality) wouldn't have much of an effect on anyone.

His origins had nothing to do with who he was for every second of his life until then, and in FF if someone is trying to mess with you that bad then imo it's in the character's best interest to just stab them in the face PROBLEM SOLVED.

Don't you remember his flashback, when he explained he'd dream of lights, and he left his father to search out the answer, never found out, and then he gets punched in the face (something along those lines). It seems to hint that he did very much want to understand who he was.

Didn't you notice that when Zidane tried to attack Garland the first time, Garland mind clocked him?

I replayed this part just 3-4 days ago. I still think it shouldn't define anything about him since regardless of not knowing about the place he was from or conditions of his birth, he shouldn't change just b/c he finds out that stuff. He throws away his friends for pretty much no reason since he obviously can still do w/e he wants though instead decides to just go along with everything like a zombie till pretty much everyone puts it into his head that just b/c Garland wants it one way doesn't mean Zidane has to be like that. Seriously look at Vivi who you've been helping for forever Zidane, and stop pitying yourself.

Also, Garland super didn't do crap to me when I fought him in the boss fight. Auto-regen is an auto win for every fight in the game once you get it gg k thnx mr terribad boss.

One of the best parts is when Rose of May begins to play. I love that song. I also like the wedding sequence between Vivi and Quina. And of course, *tinkle tinkle* and "Ooo, soft."

That's pretty much his one moment of self-pity in the whole game (and maybe at the start of Disc 3 too), it's hardly an orgy of angst from him. We all have moments of self-pity.

I don't think you really understood the context of that scene and reference to Garland i was talking about the cutscene portion before the You're Not Alone sequence started. Garland put Zidane in a state where he was slowly starting to lose his soul which explained his actions, but the party intervened and didn't let the process complete.

I would've really liked Zidane to spend a lot more time being a dick. You don't learn lessons quite that quickly imo. He needed more time to vent his frustration and release he needed the others.
