Playstation Move released an ad that was... a bit mocking.

Sony's VP of Realistic Movements Kevin Butler (boy, does that guy have a large business card) is at it again, this time in a video ad for the PlayStation Move. He's back from the future to thank us all for the success of the motion control device, and make a few jabs towards Nintendo and Microsoft for their efforts. Here's a few choice quotes.

* "Because real boxers don't hit like this [flails arms exasperatingly]"
* "It's also got what we in the future call buttons, which turn out to be pretty important to those handful of millions of people who enjoy playing shooters, platformers, well, anything that doesn't involve catching a big red ball."
* "C'mon, who wants to pretend their hand is a gun. What is this, third grade? Pew, pew, pew."

Check out the futuristic -- or now-eristic, rather -- commercial after the break. And if you ask, sorry, we still wouldn't bet on Kansas City in six. (http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/17/playstation-move-ad-pulls-no-motion-controlled-punches-against-w/)

Here's the vid link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0puP8nrIU8) if you're too lazy to click the article one.

What do you think about both the move and the mocking tone they are taking?

I think that women will have the ability to multitask gaming and sexual activities. So if you ever see someone shooting a wall while running against it inside an online shooter, back away slowly.

F*** you!

Going to say what I said about the Wii, motion control is just a big gimmick. If I want to do something like that I will go outside and do it.

I just don't like Kevin Butler at all, so I don't like the ads. I'm also not a big fan of ads that have the "take that" attitude, regardless of the company. Move itself could be cool or could suck; doubt I'll get a chance to try it though.

"Oooh, so the Playstation Move is a Wii Remote combined with an Eyetoy so you can still flail your arms around like a retard, but in a more dignified manner!"

Yo guys, I'm reporting in from 2015 here, and jesus, do we all laugh at that whole motion sensing rubbish that was all the rage 5 years ago. Like, people actually thought that acting out every mundane action your ingame avatar does was actually fun. Freaky yo.

The best part of that ad was seeing that portrait of Jack Tretton randomly inserted in there. I guess Kevin Butler is a funny guy but Sony really aren't selling me on the Move at all.

Love the Kevin Butler ads and this one had me laughing... especially "This is what we in the future call "buttons"; it turns out their pretty important". There's a funny video about the pew pews I'll post here in a bit, but I thought this was really funny.

When Sony gets their RTS killer ap for move, I'm all in, but until then I'm going to sit back and see what kind of games they put out on it.

That's kind of funny. Playstation putting down the people who started the motion controller movement.

You mean the people who pretty much copied the Eyetoy? They are all copies of each other really. The advert is a joke. At GDC they actually thanked Nintendo.

I don't care about motion controls though. Funny ad nonetheless.

Well the Eye Toy copied cameras, and cameras copies eyes, and eyes copy everything and send that copy to your brain.

So, the Move is a rip-off of everything.

Yes that was KIND of my point. :roll2
Though the Eyetoy was more than a camera (though it really wasnt very good).
See for yourself.

:eek::eek::eek:

IMO they are all stupid and just as bad as each other, still, I think the qoute in my signature applies very well here.

So Wii games are a copy of the Eyetoy games (which in itself are probably copied from other games), sony patented a wand like thing in 2004, then sony completely copies the Wiimote design, but with buttons and a stupid glowing orb. Unless it offers something useful for actual game design, I hope it tanks, just like I hoped the Wii would tank.

That's kind of funny. Playstation putting down the people who started the motion controller movement.
Seeing as PS3 came out before the Wii, and had the Siaxis motion control built in, and the Eyetoy existed for the PS2 before either, that's highly arguable.

Coming out to retail eight days prior seems hardly relevant when the Sixaxis was announced what, eight months after the Wiimote's motion sensing was announced at TGS '05? Eyetoy doesn't seem really comparable when talking about the Wiimote/Sixaxis though; more along the lines of Natal and Move. Especially since Guardian XIII said motion controller, not motion sensing.

Not that any of that really matters. Who cares who can stake their claim as the first to do something, I'm more interested in who can do it the best.
