Anyone know anything of this? Apparently it was a series of books now bewing made into a TV series by HBO. It's a fantasy series apparently. I only know as it's being filmed where I live....which is odd.

Yeah I made a thread about this a few months ago but haven't heard much about it since then. Look I found it :D (http://forums.eyesonff.com/lounge/128235-game-thrones.html)

I'm excited to see a new series that actually hits the fantasy area. I feel like not enough shows delve into it and if they do they can't make it work that successfully.

I think I'll read the books before I watch the show :D But it sounds interesting!

I'm hella excited for the show to come on, it's perfect for HBO; they can show pretty much anything and not have to censor much.

Also, Sean Bean is tight and Lena Heady is hooot.

Yeah good luck reading the books :| I might reread Game of Thrones if I have a month to waste. (it's good, but LONG)

Yeah I didn't have any problem with the length. rubah's just being wimpy. Did you ever read Anathem, rubah? THAT was way longer (if it wasn't page-wise, it certainly felt and took way longer to read).

Yeah, I can't recall any of them really taking me very long, I think maybe I took two weeks at most with one of them. Of course I hadn't read anything I enjoyed as much as them in a long while.

GRRM's generally a quick read despite the length. I'm quite glad this are being made into a series; now Martin just needs to finish the damn last three books.

Books which are over 1 000 pages long don't deter me, but then when I'm reading I'll spend hours a day on the task. This is especially true in the case of these books, since they're pretty good.

It's generally lighter on the fantasy and heavier on the intrigue/character drivenness, which I enjoy.

Indeed. Which is another reason why HBO is a perfect fit for this, especially given that much of the intrigue revolves around sex and murder -- two things HBO doesn't shy away from.

I read recently that there are some personnel problems. The actress playing Catelyn left the project, as did some of the crew who worked on the pilot episode, and they're looking at recasting at least one of the other roles. I hope this is not a sign of some more significant problems with getting this filmed.

I started listening to the audio book version of this since it was so highly rated on Audible. After an hour I had to shut it off, I thought it was so god damn trashy.

I can't stand listening to trashy stuff, but I don't mind watching it! And it's HBO. I'll pretty much watch anything HBO puts out.
