I just started this game and it is amusing me so far. I have the SNES version urm on my computer... :shifty: ANYWAY that's not what this thread is about.. well it is kinda.....
This thread is about: Any tips for me, things I might miss, stuff I should know to do? WITHOUT SPOILING THE STORY!!
I'm afraid to look in the other threads cause of spoilers so please be kind and spoiler free in here. I just met shadow if that gives you reference on how far I am. I know there is a FAQ but that all seems kinda  to me since it's my first time ever playing this.

So you are on your way to Mount Kolts.
There are some things you should not miss. I will tell you about a bunch of them now.
Do not open every single treasure chest. The content of some chests is changing. One of the chests in the cave can be quite helpful later because the treasure turns into a Lightning Rod and you can defeat the next boss (the second time you are in the cave) by just throwing the rod at him and end the battle immediately.
In Returner's Hideout you can decide, which gift you want, depending on how you tell Banon, you will help him. It can be a Genji Glove or a Gauntlet.
In the Cave to the Sealed Gate you can use some switches to open a secret cave. There you will find one of two "AtmaWeapon" (Ultima Weapon) items.

You should know that one of the chests in the cave of narshe becomes a ribbon later in the game. I dont remember which one just that in earlier in the game its a rune edge sword. You want the ribbon instead. BTW your in for a real treat FF6 is an excellent game with a very moving story. It's my favorite of the series.

When you get the little girl, don't use her sketch. It was bugged in the SNes game. Maybe the :shifty: version was fixed.

I wouldn't worry too much about some of the equipment/treasure tricks during a first playthrough.
You should just playthrough for the enjoyment and feel free to ask for boss strategies. Check clocks in this game cause most of them have a hidden elixir in them.
I would say explore alot, especially on the world map cause there are a few hidden places scattered about even in the early parts of the game, many of them only add to the story but that's the point of playing right? ;)
The game has the largest cast in the main series in terms of playable characters, my advice is to play with party rotation and give everyone a fair shot cause there really is no bad character in this game. Experiment with Relics and equipment (VI has the best elemental equips in the series imo) and avoid making a party of magic clones when Espers show up.
The SNES version is pretty buggy... avoid using Relm's sketch ability on the Veldt or in the Phoenix Caves and god knows don't try it on your other party members, it has a 50/50 chance of crashing the game and destroying save files. The rest you will probably never notice.
Most of all just have fun and enjoy the game. :ffvisexy:

Celes and Terra are godly. Relm's sketch is bugged but she has the highest magic rating of anyone in the game so train her up as a caster when you get her. The ribbon is rare theres a few bosses you can steal it from I forget which tho.

In Mt Kolts I recommend joining up with the dudes there. You're better off with the Gauntlet because Genji Gloves are easier to come across later in the game.
Before too long one of your party members is going to freak out and you'll have to chase them down. When this happens bring Edgar and Sabin but leave a spot empty instead of filling all the characters up. Shortly after you'll be able to fill the empty spot by hiring Shadow in one of the towns. It's the perfect time to see the five Shadow dream sequences by sleeping at the inn from that town. You should only have to sleep there about 10 times but every now and then it can take 15 or so. At any other point in the game it always takes forever. I recommended the brothers because it's a great time to see an optional scene at Figaro Castle.

This cracked me up. They are making jokes about each other while there is a dead guy on the floor.

There are two espers available when you reach the auction house in Jidoor.
This game is wonderful! Um, you should remove Shadow's equipment before you enter the forest after Kefka poisons everybody (I know you just saw this bit). Sometimes he decides to bail on you and then you don't get to hang on to all the neat stuff you gave him.

I don't think so.
It is in the right corner of the Moogle Cave in the Mines of Narshe. So don't worry.
And don't forget to seach the Break Blade in the Magitec Factory were the tubes are directly before the No. 024 Boss Battle. There are many hidden treasure chests in Final Fantasy VI and there are also chests which don't contain what is said they contain. Especially in the Cave to the Sealed Gate when you seach for the treasures in the ground.

Yep, just have fun with this game! The only thing in this game that would suck to miss out on is the espers/summons, but since non of the espers are missable, you can just relax. :D
You'll lose one of the espers along the road, but you'll get someone better anyway.
