"Tell me why he picked you!"

During the scene when Roxas decides to fight Sora in TWTNW, this one little line that he says has caused huge debate as to who Roxas is referring to. These are the most commonly choices that I've heard from who people think "he" is:

DiZ or Ansem the Wise. Refers to the fact that he picked Sora to be the one who gets to have his body and that Roxas had to end his summer vacation and the fact that he is no longer his own entity. As far as I could tell, this was generally the second most popular idea, before KH2FM came along.

The Keyblade. This is the one which I hear people say the most, and the main thing that supports this is the fact that people say "The English version of that line is a mistranslation, because the Japanese version translates to 'Tell me why you were chosen'."

Axel. This is the one that is most likely the truth, since the fact that KH2FM included another scene in which Axel and Roxas talk with each other immediately after the fight shows that the Sora vs. Roxas fight was completely resolved after Axel decided to say goodbye to Roxas and that Nomura put in this scene to show to the players that "he" refers to Axel.

This topic is to ask who you think "he" refers to.

And don't believe something just because KHwiki says so.

I always thought it was Ansem the Wise. Asking why Ansem chose to have Sora back rather than keep Roxas as his own entity.

The Keyblade one doesn't make any sense because in essence, Roxas and Sora are the same person. When I first heard that line I thought he was talking about Riku, but I realised that doesn't make that much sense. But the most likely person is DiZ/Ansem because he felt that Roxas shouldn't 'exist' anymore and that Sora is more important.

I actually thought it was DiZ as well before KH2FM came along.

But KH2FM made me realize that Roxas' question was why Axel picked Sora over him. Axel was willing to kill Roxas in the beginning of KH2, but he betrayed Organization XIII to save Sora. Thus, Roxas was pissed and decided to attack Sora. The fact that Axel's death was what awoke Roxas in the first place increases the chances of "he" referring to Axel, as well.

Though of course, there's no 100% certainty on any of these choices. But I still think Axel definitely has the best odds, and I also think the Keyblade is the least likely choice.

I had no idea, so I just thought "maybe he's referring to how Riku went and beat him up for Sora rather than just let things be." Though that never felt quite right. I like "why were you chosen" better because I can think of it as "why can't I be Roxas?"


Also I think I like Roxas more than Sora :(

Riku beat up Roxas because he was about to go on a suicide mission to attack Xemnas after Xion died to free Kingdom Hearts.

It refers to the fact that Axel picked to allow Sora to exist instead of turning him into a heartless again to recreate Roxas.
