I just got a PSP 3000 (up from my 2000, which got shattered), and I've noticed a very unsettling trend. If I leave it alone for four to six hours (turned off), its battery seems to drain completely. I've tried both the battery that came with it and the battery that was with my PSP 2000, and it has happened once with each. Has anyone else had this problem?

Does it have a sleep mode that it could be using instead of actually turning off?

It has a sleep mode, but I am definitely turning it off. I used to just put my PSP 2000 into sleep mode (before I figured out how to turn it off), but the 3000 is definitely turning off. When I turn it back on, it does the start-up and everything.

Well that just takes all of the mobility out of it, doesn't it? D:

Are you POSITIVE you're turning it off? I have to hold mine for at least 5 seconds for it to turn off (I have a 3000 as well). Mine doesn't deplete the battery or anything when it's off.

Even if he is just putting it in sleep, it should still hold charge for more than 4-6 hours, which is actually the approximate battery life of a fully charged PSP-3000 being played, I hear. It doesn't make sense that the battery is running out when it's off in the time it would run out if you were playing it. Are you getting much shorter play time as well?

Aside from the screen, the majority of the battery goes toward running the UMD. Is your PSP still making whirring/spinning disc sounds even when it's turned off by any chance?

I leave my PSP on sleep for weeks at a time. I never shut it off. Mine's not the same model, but if mine can last weeks surely yours should last longer than a few hours! Maybe your charger is icky?

It's more likely an issue with the PSP itself or, as Jess has stated, the charger since it's happening with two batteries. The PSP-2000 battery is exactly the same as the 3000, so it's not an incompatibility issue between the PSP-3000 and the 2000 battery.

Skyblade, I guess you could try different powerpoints around the house or a friend's charger before you start thinking about solutions that cost money.

There is something wrong either with your charger or your system, I have a psp 3000, and if it is on red and I turn it off, Itll still have battery three weeks later....
get a refund, but dont buy a go

I exchanged it for a new one at the store. This one works all fine and dandy, so I guess it was an issue with the device itself. All is good now. :)
