I am Cloud, ex SOLDIER 1st Class. It's been just a few days since I have arrived in Midgar to become a Mercenary. Hired by "AVALANCHE" an anti ShinRa group I've taken the train to Sector 1 where my first target was waiting - the Mako Reactor #1. After our arrival we've had to knock out a few guards. They were piece of cake. Nothing but a joke. But at least they've had some use because of the 2 "Potion"s I've found in their bags.

Of course these guys were not alone so when I've followed the leader of our mission some of those cretins still tried to stop me some of them even with those panther-like dogs.

At the gate of the reactor our leader told me to him "Barret". Strange name. After it we just followed our three other companions.

The big guy was watching the exit while we've entered the reactor. Barret wanted to tell me something about the planet's life energy and how mean the ShinRa Inc. is to exploit our world. Actually I was just interested in finishing my mission. We were lucky to have the codes of the doors so we were able to use the elevator. Before that I've taken the chance of looting the chest nearby to get a "Phoenix Down". You think I would care if it is someone else's treasure? I don't care what you think. In the elevator Barret asked me to save the planet. I am not in the mood. Then at the bottom of the reactor after I have found another "Potion" which was just lying on the floor and after a few ladders we have arrived at the core where I have obtained a new materia, the tool of magic. It was a green "Restore" materia but I've decided not to use it. I mean, come on - why would I need healing magic for a mission like this? Directly before I was setting the bomb I've had some blackout or I don't know what it was. It was an odd feeling which told me this reactor would be dangerous. And it was, because once I've set the bomb these pathetic mech guards came to hinder us from fleeing before the reactor explodes. Together with Barret I was fighting one of ShinRa's super robots, type "Guard Scorpion". This reminds me of my battle against this guy 5 years ago when I was on my way to the Junon airport...hmph, strange...I can't remember this battle. But at least I still knew enough to warn Barret not to attack the robot while it was readying its "Tail Laser" attack. Indeed Barret has shown me he's no bad fighter. He is even able to control and break his Limits like me what I have rarely seen from other people so we've destroyed this piece of trash quickly.

After the battle we've had 10 minutes to escape. That was more than enough time but some guards and robo guards still wanted us to beat them.

Quickly helped Jesse whose leg stuck we've opened the mechanical doors with her and Biggs' help to return to Wedge so we finally able to flee directly before the explosion. At Sector 8 Barret wanted us to find our own way to the station of were the train was waiting. In the Slum I have meet a girl. She was selling flowers. I don't even know one place in Midgar where flowers grow.

She was kinda cute so I bought one of them and gave her the Gil she wanted before she left. On my way to the station I've found a "Potion" near the fountain. then some guards found me. They started to get on my nerves so I just didn't fight them and jumped on top of the train which appeared out of the tunnel below me. Since I didn't want Barret to be sad I've met them in the train. He became angry because it was not like he planned but I didn't mind. After that Jesse explained me the train and security system.

She really likes me. During my conversation with Barret about Midgar and the inhabitant's poverty Barret just wondered that after all I would care about other people...I really do not. Whatever he thinks, it doesn't matter.
Finally we arrived at Sector 7 to get my pay in their hideout.
