Why Do SOO many peope think ti s cool to hate FFX???

in my mind, final fantasy X is THE greatest in the series. honestly, the only one that comes close to it is FF9.

the other ones (7,8, 6, 12 etc) are all good but none of them are even in 9 or 10's ballpark.

linearity isnt a bad thing when the game is this cinematic. also, the voice acting was awesome. i dont understand how people disliked the voice actor for tidus.

and the battle system in X was easily the best of the series as was the sphere grid.

i will admit though that the minigames of X are a complete disgrace....

And FFVIII and FFX-2 are in the Final Fantasy Hall of Fame for being most hated.

X is a good game to me, but probably for different reasons than that OP. I have nothing to say about the quality of the voice acting, I don't like the linearity of the game.. but man, Blitzball was awesome. =]

FFX is my favourite...... I just love the depth of story and the general quality of the game. Plus the mythology/philosophy of it all really appeals to me but then again I do have a philosophy degree so it would lol

I like XIII too :D

For me it's: X, VI, IX, XIII, VII, VIII, XII. They swap order relatively regularly but it's always X first! :p

I've not found anyone with any watertight reasons to hate X. Most people say they dislike this and that but they're all preferences. With other main titles I have understood why people don't like each game but with X.... well I'll be a gushing fangirl :p

It's XIII's turn right now. It's a trend, with every new Final Fantasy. I guess the reason why X's "hatred" stuck around so long was cause it was like Super-new compared to the first nine and it was followed by XI and X-2 which were even huger divergences from the norm so it catches back wash hate.

It's weird that FFXII was so hated. I thought it was one of the most well-built in the series! Maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but a solid title nonetheless!

How can anyone say that about a game where the director had a breakdown before the game was finished and left the company...a game that lacked plot and character developement, proper pacing, didn't have enough cutscenes to tie the game together and just generally lacked a personality.

I loved FFX. When Auron walked up the steps of the stadium at Luca I got a thrill I haven't felt in an FF game since.:D

I miss that.I had hopes FFXIII would mark a return to that but the reviews and comments in the flaws thread are discouraging.I haven't played the game yet and yet I feel I will be disappointed when I do.

Well of course! Looking at a thread specifically for flaws you're going to see only negative things! I haven't played it yet, but imagine if you didn't play FFX because of all of the nasty things people say about it :p

I don't think too many people dislike X, but there are aspects that are unpopular and as is the way of gamers, those aspects get ragged on a lot.

It's cool to hate FFVIII, and if you're a big fan of VI it's cool to hate everything since except IX.

I don't hate X. It's not one of my favorites, but still, I like it. But a good friend of mine who I know in real life, totally despises X. Always ripping on it whenever X comes into the conversation. He still owns the game, but he just never bothered to complete it.

People don't think it's cool to hate FFX. A lot of people like it, and those that don't like it dislike it because of personal reasons. If anything, I believe that some people think its cool to hate VIII and love VII.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's one of the more positively regarded. I saw more than one place talking about XIII in terms of "Is it as good as X?"

It's all over the place. Just search this forum for a bit and you'll find loads of haters. The reason there aren't any haters around right now is probably because they've expended all their energy arguing why XIII is bad and are resting up.

I enjoyed X quite a bit. It was the first Final Fantasy I played all the way through. While I think Tidus was a good character, I can't ignore how annoying he could be. I can understand why some people would hate it for that reason alone, I myself have given up playing certain video games for far dumber reasons.

I actually think a lot of people hate X, though. Mostly for Tidus, because he's so whiny, and for the linearity of it. But I really like it, so. I guess it depends on what kind of game format you like.

Every Final Fantasy has their haters, except maybe FFVI. I don't think FFX has any more haters than say FF2, 7, 8, 9 or 12.

Exactly! That's what's really, really annoying me about all the XIII talk at the moment. I like the game, doesn't mean I can't recognise it's flaws (Although I don't think it has many) there are all these haters wont even recognise there are good parts! Say you bring up the graphics, something I didn't think you could ignore, they just spout on how you can't base a game off graphics alone, no you can't, but you can still recognise they're awesome!

I see the game as an experiment. An experiment to see if gamers would welcome the "One long corridor, no exploration" movement with a naff love song by a pop singer, following on from FF8 which only really did the latter. The gamers did take to it, and now we have FFXIII and RIONA RUISU HIGHRY UNDERSPATED ALBAM.

At least the unskippable, horribly-acted cutscenes didn't catch on though. Anyone who remembers a thread I did about three years ago (http://forums.eyesonff.com/final-fantasy-x-x-2/102136-things-do-during-ffx-cutscenes.html) will know how I felt about those.
