Well I'm always saying to people who complain, "rap isn't bad, you're just listening to the :bou::bou::bou::bou:ty stuff." Whenever I'm asked for examples though I come up with a very pitiful amount. I know it's out there somewhere, I just haven't gone looking yet!

I got a couple of things on my list, but I've been meaning to make a thread here for awhile. I finally got around to it when Mogi said something xD

I like this kind of stuff:
YouTube - MSX FM - Part 1 of 3 - GTA III (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSy9J4hTEbo) -- I love this station!
YouTube - YOUR REALITYS A FANTASY BUT YOUR FANTASY IS KILLING ME - BOOM BOOM SATELLITES (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gBijJsBwpE)

Mogi is looking for more songs like this:
YouTube - "Empire State of Mind" Jay-Z | Alicia Keys [OFFICIAL VIDEO] (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UjsXo9l6I8)

Your help would be very much appreciated!

I know that the Star Wars video is a spoof of one of Jay-Z's songs. I like the song. I'd love some songs with some deep lyrics though - something that I can relate to!

EDIT: Wow, I guess I should've looked closer :|

I really REALLY love The Streets. I'll give you a few different songs by this rapper to give you a taste of his stuff.

I find him to be love or hate. If you like his accent, you're most likely gonna love it. If you don't, then I doubt you'll be able to listen to him.

YouTube - The Streets - Dry your eyes (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHOf3s70w-c) <--- Their most famous song
YouTube - the streets its too late (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zr76TYCq2_k) <--- This is my favorite
YouTube - The Streets - Turn The Page (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upraJDHBgt4) <--- This another one that I'm a fan of.
YouTube - The Streets - Fit But You Know It (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64gvmHKWaWc) <--- This one is fun and upbeat.

The rest of my rap and hip-hop tends to be asian (Teriyaki Boyz are fantastic, I recommend them too. Try HEARTBREAKER (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lexn1bcn68U)!) or very mainstream.

I don't know where the line is drawn between hip-hop and rap, or if there really is a difference. Honestly I thought that rap was an element of hip-hop, just like the saxophone is to jazz. But I digress!

Anyway, amidst that confusion, I don't know if some of these people count as "rap" or are just "R&B" but on my iPod I have some Lauryn Hill, OutKast, Kanye, The Roots, etc etc I'm too lazy to list all of them. I have an odd taste in music anyway.

All of those artists rap so yes it counts although Outkast and Hill, do a lot of R&B too.

Oh, I found this song today, and I really love it. It's a rap. One version is B.o.B (lol) with Hayley Williams singing the chorus, the other has Eminem in it as well. I love both.

YouTube - B.o.B - Airplanes Feat. Hayley Williams of Paramore [OFFICIAL AUDIO] (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-20inKxm08w)
YouTube - B.o.B ft. Eminem & Hayley Williams - Airplanes Part 2 (With Lyrics).mp4 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nN5pOK6y42o) <--- The one with Eminem.

Do you want real hip-hop? Old School or new age? I'm a dj (on an undetermined break). I'm also a former musician. I played various jazz and classical. I also break danced.... so I got a lot of music lurking in my arsenal of music knowledge.
Here are some old school songs. Tell me if this is what your looking for:
LL Cool J - Mama said knock you out
Pete Rock & CL Smooth - The Creator
Busta Rhymes - Put your Hands where my Eyes can see
Like those I got plenty more, msg me!
Real Hip-Hop comes from anything from these artists:
Dilated Peoples
The Beatnuts
The Alkoholics
I got more of this too....
If you want stuff from the 90's, again msg me I can go on for days!
Also I know some house too if your interested, and Funk.:p
Hope this helps!

YouTube - Wu Tang-Triumph (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isumZjs3dKA)
YouTube - Wu-Tang Clan - Protect Ya Neck (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GDPZpRmTg0)

Return of the Crooklyn Dodgers, Blackalicious and Pharoahe Monch are the tracks that probably have the best lyrics, if that's what mogi is interested in. Though, Triumph has the best opening lyric of any rap song ever. But yeah. Welcome to the Terror Dome is a sick track actually, that and Crooklyn Dodgers are the only two I was forced to listen to completely when searching for the videos.

It does surprise me that hip-hop, good hip-hop is quite well known among the EoFF community. I didn't expect some of these artists and songs to get named. I find that UK hip-hop really annoying though and wouldn't consider it when selecting hip-hop must knows/haves.

I've listed my 2 most favourite artists, they are basically what I listen to 90% of the time. Sorted by album in track order, because they paint pictures that way, it's really interesting to see how themes/ideas develop over an album and sometime are extended on the next album.

The Chamillionaire songs listed here are basically the songs that inspired my high scholl art folio of 12 pieces, really changed how I looked at life.

If you don't want to listen to them all, I reccommend that you listen to:
Chamillionaire - Ultimate Victory
Chamillionaire - Void in my Life
UGK - One Day

Chamillionaire - Sound of Revenge:
