I want to cry, because in a few months I have to have my really nice classy license plate changed. New York is changing their license plates. I really like a gold/midnight blue combination, but not compared to our current nice license plates. Those colors are more suited to a marching band or a sports jersey something. The Manhattan and Niagara Fall images are really pretty. Ugh, our plates are going to look just like New Jersey license plates now! Whyyyyy! Cryyyyy! ;_;

What is your state/country's license plate? Do you like it?

EDIT: Omg, it's not mandatory to change anymore! (http://www.nydmv.state.ny.us/empgold/faq.htm) That motion was canceled. Thank god. I want to keep my pretty license plate 4eva. <3

Britain has rubbish license plates, there is no need to see them.

This annoys me though, when I was in New York I got a keychain of a license plate with my name on it. The only souvenir I bought and it is about to become null and void. :(

They said it is to make our license plates easier to see for those with vision problems or something. I don't get it because I thought those with bad vision had to have it corrected to drive but whatever. My facebook page has exploded with Paterson jokes. Low blow. XD

Oooh, did you like it in NY? I like those license plate key chains. I usually feel touristy if I get one of those sort of things, like wearing a I <3 NY shirt when you live in NY, but I used to own one of those keychains, it's cute. I have key chain mania though. My parents staged an intervention and made me get rid of half my keychain load. :(

This is what the normal one looks like:

I will post the fancy special ones when I find them.

That new New York one really is ugly. Though the newest Ohio plates are pretty much lame too:

The older ones are very simple. I like them:

The Indiana license plates had a sunset on them about 10 years ago or so, and the colors were nice. Now they're pretty boring and really not even worth posting. :x

You son of a bitch. You get that airplane off your license plate. Ohio is NOT the birthplace of aviation. The Wright brother's were born there, but they came to Meganland to actually fly a plane.

:p I have one of those new Ohio ones. They're pretty ugly, but compared to the bicentennial plates, they were the better choice.

I wish they would have stuck with the plates that they had 10 years ago.

They were born and raised here and then they engineered flight and built the first airplane here! They flew it in NC but all the real work was done in Ohio! I win.

I have the premium variety though, which are black on white. But we don't get fancy backgrounds or pictures here. You can customise a range of colours and even get your footy team, but that all costs a fortune.

Also, there's this.

One time, I saw a number plate that was like... *three numbers* + FOA, and then, on the next car, I saw one that was all like *three numbers* + RSL. I was so amazed I almost had a heart attack then and there.

Motorcycle license plates have 5 digits/characters here. I once saw one that read PEN15.

Very mature.

I loved New York. I stayed in an apartment which was dodgy to say the least, and the room consisted of nothing but a mattress on the floor. Luckily 90% of my time was not spent in the room. :p

And I have the same keychain obsession as you. I've got an NY one with my name on it and a Virginia one with my name on it :p In fact my car keys consist of the car key, and about ten keychains, it's ridiculous.

And GB license plates are getting a little more interesting than what MILF pointed out. They can have little EU flags on them now!

Age identifiers on license plates is the best fucking idea ever. How did you guys come up with it?

Since when did Queensland start touting itself as 'The Smart State'?

I can only imagine what the Tasmanian plates must say.

I saw a car with a Tasmanian plate, before... I think it said the holiday state or something? I was more interested in what half of Tasmania’s population was doing in Queensland.

Speaking of Queensland, are they trying to be ironic with that smart state thing lol
or... are the rest of the states... i almost don’t want to imagine it

Jiro it’s in Noosa if you want to go and have a look at it.

Jiro

Noosa is fairly close, I could give it a looksee. Queensland only just decided to drop the "sun" from our slogan. It used to be the "Sun Smart State" iirc. As well as the "Sunshine State". We can never decide.

At least we aren't Victoria. Their plates say "The Place To Be". I always get pissed when they drive like dicks up here in QLD. It's like, wtf are you doing here if Victoria is the place to be?

"sun smart state"? really? i don't remember that... all i remember is the green ones being "the sunshine state" and the maroon ones being "the smart state" (haha which is hilarious seeing as we have the worst school results of the whole country)

haha, and the only drivers worse than victorians are the queenslanders :P

I didn't actually realize that the whole of Europe sucked. We could all have neat little things on our license plates; Things for the Nordic countries, shamrocks for Ireland, armed men in balaclavas for Northern Ireland,

This happens to me more often than it should, considering I rarely look at number plates (I take the bus and read on it). RSL is the most common one at my end, although I've seen foa and Rye pop by, Cid too.

Also, Wright brothers Schmight brothers - the first airplane flight was conducted in NZ around nine months beforehand. ;)
