Sub Job leveling

New to the game guys, and have a question.

I recently hit lvl 18 on my Warrior and did the quest to obtain a sub job.

I picked Monk as my sub, but it's staying at lvl 1 when I fight. I don't understand how the sub job levels, I guess.

Can somebody fill me in?

You have to switch your main job to monk to level it. Then you can use it as a subjob and it will be at that level (capped at half your main job). Subjobs won't level when they're set as a subjob.

For example, if you switch to monk as your main job and warrior as your subjob, they will both be at level 1. If you level up to level 10 as monk, then your job will be monk 10 / warrior 5. Then if you switch back to warrior, your job will be warrior 18 / monk 9.

You will want to level your subjob first, too. For example, many people choose to level their desired subjob to the same level as their main job after completing the subjob quest. This allows them to continue playing until Level 37 without having to stop to level their subjob.
