I've been discovering how a lot of women (and even men now!) on the cast of TV shows wear Spanx (http://www.spanx.com/home/index.jsp) under every outfit. It really smoothes out lines and bumps in clothing.

I'm thinking about buying a pair of two for when I wear things that are prone to lines and clinging at the office, especially when I buy some work trousers for the colder months. I don't like to wear thongs to work, because it feels weird to do, and even with thongs clothes are still prone to hang unflatteringly, even on really thin women.

Anyone have a pair? Tell me about them. Good investment, y/n?

Well, I suppose so. It would hold the form together. I imagine they're not very comfortable though, but I haven't ever worn real spanx. I like thongs, though they wouldn't keep things from clinging now, but no lines there.

Would spanx ride up? How far down do the legs on them go?

You can buy all different kinds at different lengths. The ones I want are like shorts. They start just over the belly button, and just a few inches under the butt!

I have a couple of spanx-like undies, and they get super uncomfortable after a couple of hours. I know Spanx is like "the brand" to get, but I still can't imagine I'd want to wear them on a regular basis. Maybe for an actual job interview but not to work.

Spanx are great for special occasions. It's really super common for weddings.

But they make you feel like a sausage, so I wouldn't really recommend it for regular wear.

I never had much of a problem with lines

Nice! Thanks Miriel~

I don't think I'd wear them under regular clothes when I'm just out wearing casual stuff, but I'd probably wear them with work trousers. I have trouble with those sitting nicely on me without lines and bumps. I'm going to be so sad when I can't wear dresses and skirts to work anymore because of the cold. :(

Hey, wait, maybe this is just my wily femininity speaking, but lines are a problem! I have some work pants where you can see my panties outline if I stand a certain way. And not everyone wants thongs, so spanx would be the next best option.

For a smooth looking arse.

Though I would hate if they went over the belly button, I hate any clothing that does, I don't know why.

My good sir, you have never felt the embarrassment and shame of panty lines. Many were the days when I would wander into the office and receive a good hazing because my panty lines were visible. I tried the thongs, but they rode up and became visible around my waistline. Thanks to Spanx my outlook on life has increased tenfold. Gone are the days of feeling like an outcast because of my unsightly and embarrassing panty lines.

Thanks Spanx! :thumb:

I have a friend who used to wear one of those spanx things sometimes, and as far as I know she thought they were great.

As for panty lines - just don't wear panties :smug:

Never wear tight jeans?

Have absolutely worn tight jeans. Just not ones which are apparently translucent.

Spanx looks really uncomfortable to me. I really don't like things that are form-fitting, unless they're jeans.

I don't know what's up with your clothes, but you can see the the seams at the bottom of my boxers if I'm wearing tight enough jeans.

I have a Spanx thing and I only wear it on super special occasions with one dress. And I usually go hide in the bathroom and take it off about half-way through.

Why am I responding to this thread?

Anyway I love how it shows a skinny model modeling Spanx. As if that blonde...drooooool

*ahem* anyway slimming lingerie can only work magic in certain ways. There's two kinds I'm .. what's the word to use here...not familiar but aware of: one that slims your stomach/hips/waist and ones that slim your thighs as well as your hip and waist. The former is usually more effective as it's more like a girdle and the latter I was going to buy but never got around to it because I found out about the former!

[not for myself damnit]

Anyway the stuff just presses against your body and forces a shape as best as possible. it's not going to make a 200 lbs girl look like she's 140 or less, but it does smooth out your body if you are 10-20 lbs above what you'd like.

It also feels very odd to hold / grab a woman who is wearing these products - like the skin is tough or rigid. It's not a bad thing, but it IS odd.
