I... why. They're one of the best things to come from the Jews ever. :(

Bagels, toasted till slightly crisp on the inside with melted butter is like... a delicacy of my life.

I like egg bagels and everything bagels (they have tons of seeds, a bit of garlic and onion, and a bit of salt on the outsides) the very best, but I'll eat just about any bagel.

I can only eat them once a week now and I have to scoop the insides out, because of my diet, but they're soooo good.

They're fairly common in California, almost not at all in Oklahoma or Texas from what I could see though.

Here in Ohio we have lots of Jews and an Einstein Bagels on every corner and all our grocery stores have kosher sections and bagels and wine everywhere. :D

I think it's weird that people think it's weird to have not had a bagel! They're really not terribly common in the places I've lived (midwest/south). I mean, they're there, people eat them, but I think it most cases people have more an affinity for donuts.

Rye
05-23-2010, 12:59 AM
It makes sense. I mean, in the midwest and south, there's probably only bagels sold in Dunkin' Donuts and stuff, and those bagels suck ballz. If those were the only bagels I had, I wouldn't see the appeal either.

The best bagels are sold by independent kosher bagel shops. And there aren't many Jews in those places. XD

Someone once told me that one bagel = 5 slices of bread. And so after that I stopped eating bagels.

But I love butter and jam on my toast. Cream cheese should just be reserved for cheesecake. I had no idea bagels were a regional thing. You can find them in most bakeries, coffee shops, etc, on the west coast.

There is nothing so grand as a bite of bagel.

Especially when overloaded with cream cheese. Or sauced in melted butter. Or made into a PB&J. Or and sandwich. Or a pizza.

Bagel is best.

You said a bagel was approximately equal to two sandwiches, but it's not. It would be about equal to four slices of bread, which was my point.

But since we're on that subject, sandwiches get bacon on them.
