We've been a bunch of raging perverts lately. Let's cool it down a bit. I don't see how the naughty can come up at all in this thread with these topics. This is practically a litmus test for your mental well-being!

Topic #1: What was the coolest birthday cake you've ever had as a kid?

Topic #2: What is your best childhood memory of being spoiled and loved by your grandparents? (If you've never known your grandparents, you can choose another family member!)

Topic #3: What was your favorite book as a child?

Topic #4: What was your first pet and what was its name?

Topic #5: Did you believe in anything like trolls under your bed or closet monsters as a kid? If so, which one scared you the most?

---

I guess these are my answers!

Topic #1: I had a birthday cake from Carvel a few times that was shaped like a face, and have a big ice cream cone for the nose. I forget the name of it, but it's one of those like the ice cream whale that you can buy and then the staff personalizes it with icing writing. I loved that ice cream cake.

Topic #2: I don't really have any of being spoiled, because I never knew my grandfathers, and my grandmothers aren't very warm and loving people. My best memory I guess would be going to my grandmother's apartment when we both still lived in Queens and playing with her ginger cat, Rusty. She had a toy fishing pole with a catnip mouse at the end and I'd jerk it all around and the cat would go nuts!

Topic #3: I really like Seuss' "Wacky Wednesday" in particular, if we're talking about beginner reading books. But when I was about 5 or 6, I started reading lots of non-fiction books about dinosaurs and planets. My favorite was a huge book with all sorts of information about every known dionsaur, with lots of beautiful photos. The book was about my size then!

Topic #4: My very own first pet was Julie, a tiny purple budgie. =O She died about a month after I got her...

Topic #5: I believed that dolls and human shaped toys could come alive, and that they would kill me, from the age of about 3. Especially ventriloquist dummies. I was convinced my Barbies would kill me too... I had a nightmare once when I was 5 that one of my big dolls that could speak the alphabet came out of my closet with a giant knife, and threaten to kill me unless I left my family and lived in the streets, and I was so terrified after that I made my mom give the doll away and I didn't sleep for weeks! ROFL!

Topic #1: Hot Wheels racecar shaped. 7th Birthday. It was beyond epic.
Topic #2: I know my grandparents, but they never really spoiled me. But, my grandpop on my mom's side used to make me these cool wooden things. I still have them. Trucks and tractors and stuff. Awesomeness.
Topic #3: Redwall.
Topic #4: His name was Chaucer and he was a kitty and I used to choke him until he passed out and then when he woke up he would come back to me and we would snuggle and nap together.
Topic #5: There was a vampire under my bed and witches in my closed when I was 4-7. The witches wanted to boil me into soup. The vampire just wanted to scare me. He thought it was funny. Needless to say, I didn't.

Topic #1: What was the coolest birthday cake you've ever had as a kid?

I think it was my 8th birthday cake, it was basically made to look like a bed with about 6 gnomes sleeping in it and one of them was falling out. It was freaking awesome :D

Topic #2: What is your best childhood memory of being spoiled and loved by your grandparents? (If you've never known your grandparents, you can choose another family member!)

Umm... my nan always spoils me XD She doesn't let me do anything.

Topic #3: What was your favorite book as a child?

Oh God where do I start... I guess it has to be something like The Twits or George's Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl cos i'm pretty sure they were among the first things I ever read, other than Biff and Chip :p

Topic #4: What was your first pet and what was its name?

Err... We had a cat called Mimi. It was killed :( Then we got another cat and called him Mimi too :p

Topic #5: Did you believe in anything like trolls under your bed or closet monsters as a kid? If so, which one scared you the most?

AHAH I was scared of the toilet monster XD I didn't like the noise the toilet makes when you flush it and I was scared there might be a monster in there so I used to make sure I opened the door first so I could flush and run away :D

1) My mom made me a pokemon cake. It was just a circular cake, iced red and white like a pokeball, with a smartee in the center as the little button thing.
2) Basically all of the cookies and cake and yummy food my grandma would make for all of us kids.
3) I always really liked The True Story of the Three Little Pigs (http://www.amazon.com/True-Story-Three-Little-Pigs/dp/0140544518). The art was nice and the concept was really interesting for my little mind. Chronologically after that, it was anything Goosebumps, then anything Animorphs, and then the Harry Potter books.
4) Tammy. She was a collie and looked kinda like this. (http://www.fordogtrainers.com/ProductImages/dog-breeds-muzzles/Collie-muzzle-Collie.jpg) She was sweet, but was really my dad's dog. When I was about four, we got another collie that I named Amber. She was a blue merl (http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/images16/CollievFaith3yrsBlueMerle2.JPG). She was my buddy. She'd run up to my room in the morning during school when she knew I'd be waking up and loved to fall asleep next to me. I miss having a doggy.
5) I thought a vampire lived under my bed and would get me if I let my legs hang over. The vampire would be replaced by The Haunted Mask from Goosebumps with time. In general I just didn't like having any part of my body sticking out from under the sheets or hanging over the bed.

I never let my legs hang over either. My vampire would grab them and pull me under if I did.

Topic #1: What was the coolest birthday cake you've ever had as a kid?
<del>It was a cockerdoodle</del> For my fifth birthday, I decided everything was going to be blue, so my grandma made blue icing for my cake :D it was so pretty

Topic #2: What is your best childhood memory of being spoiled and loved by your grandparents? (If you've never known your grandparents, you can choose another family member!)
<del>There was that night when I was seven when grandpa took me out to Blackwell to pick up some scotch</del> I don't actually remember this, but I found a card my grandma just sent me (not on any occasion) and it had like ten smiley face stickers on it and a little line like "You make me this happy" or something

Topic #3: What was your favorite book as a child?
<del>The New Joy of Sex</del> God, what an impossible question! I really liked Catherine, Called Birdy, and I spent hours and hours reading through all the stories in Grimm's Fairy Tales.

Topic #4: What was your first pet and what was its name?
<del>Candíru named Dick</del> A black lab named Puppa. Hehehehe, there's a pretty funny story about Puppa if you'd like to hear 8)

Topic #5: Did you believe in anything like trolls under your bed or closet monsters as a kid? If so, which one scared you the most?
<del>Well, the only thing I found under the bed was dad's porn, and the only thing in the closet was mom's dildos... so no</del> When I read the Babysitter's Club, I was introduced to the idea of monsters under the bed, and how to avoid them. I tried jumping into bed from a few feet away a few times, just to try it, and quickly got bored of it. The first real phobia I had about household places didn't come until later and I am not sharing it :nonono:

props to you, Rye, those dirty things were actually difficult to come up with!

Topic #1: I hate cake so nobody really tried much.

Topic #2: I hate my family save for a choice few. Not sure what my best memory was... I think the day I realized my brother hit the age where he was no longer a douchebag and we became friends. It sort of happened all at once. It was odd.

Topic #3: I'm pretty sure it was Bridge to Terabithia.

Topic #4: My brother had a dog. I technically didn't own it. I don't remember its name. They picked some city from Alaska and named it that. It scared me and I was glad when my mom randomly gave it away, though not glad that it made my brother very upset because she did it without discussing it with him or giving any sort of notice it was happening. What a bitch.

Topic #5: I was scared of real things like spiders instead of trolls and such. I thought monsters were cool.

Well, this was pretty depressing. Sorry, Rye.

Topic #1: What was the coolest birthday cake you've ever had as a kid?

I don't remember having a particularly cool birthday cake as a kid - maybe a "soccer cake", where it's shaped like a soccer field, has green icing and then gummi bears as soccer players. - But I don't remember if that was at my birthday party or a friend's.

Topic #2: What is your best childhood memory of being spoiled and loved by your grandparents? (If you've never known your grandparents, you can choose another family member!)

Just generally being at my grandfather's house. He lived on a farm, so I've spent a lot of time exploring and going on "adventures" there. He'd always have these specific kinds of ice cream and lemon sodas. He's the only grandparent I remember having (he died when I was 7 - my other grandfather died when I was 2, but I don't remember him at all. My grandmothers died before I was even born).

Topic #3: What was your favorite book as a child?

God, I don't know. There were so many. Even back then, I was into fantasy and supernatural stuff..

Topic #4: What was your first pet and what was its name?

I grew up having a dog, called Buller. He was a black spotted Russell Terrier, and I loved him to bits. We got him when I was maybe 5 or so, and he didn't die until I was around 18. Suddenly not having him around anymore was tough.

Topic #5: Did you believe in anything like trolls under your bed or closet monsters as a kid? If so, which one scared you the most?

I had a vivid imagination, so a couple of times I was sure there was a ghost in the house.

An Ice cream cake? I don't recall any cool cakes :(

Topic #2: What is your best childhood memory of being spoiled and loved by your grandparents?

My grandma called someone an asshole and it amused me so much that I always remember it xD

Topic #3: What was your favorite book as a child?

Honestly I read so much I can't say for sure I had a favorite. I was pron to reading books with dragons in it though. That and the harry potter books.

Topic #4: What was your first pet and what was its name?

Tigger! I got him when I was 5, of course we had some animals already before him but he was my kitty! I still have him. He's an old man :)

Topic #5: Did you believe in anything like trolls under your bed or closet monsters as a kid? If so, which one scared you the most?

I had two older siblings that would terrorize me with stories. They told me the eyes on the aspen trees were watching me and were waiting until i fell asleep to eat me. They also told me I had to hold my breath when we drove past a cemetery or a soul would possess me. I too was also scared of dolls. many other crazy stories they would tell me too :p

Topic #2: My Grandfather had to take me to my bereavment councilling sometimes, and when he did instead of taking me back to school he'd take me for burgers and to the shops. He was great

Topic #3: Scarecrow walks at midnight, from the Goosebumps series

Topic #4: First one i can remember was a dog called Geezer, he was a scallywag

Topic #5: I used to be freaked out by the boiler in the airing cuboard. was convinced it was some sort of mummified killer steam punk cyborg

Topic #1: I never had any cake that was specifically memorable. I do remember going to a birthday for these twins I used to know. They each had their own cake but the boy had finished his. So he reached over, stole his sister's cake and slammed his face into it. The girl started glaring at him. It was amusing. That isn't my birthday though.

Topic #2: I don't remember ever being spoiled by my grandparents. My grandpa did pick me up after I got suspended from school for punching some kid in the face for some reason. He asked me if the kid deserved it, I said yes. He said "Well, good. Let's go then."

Topic #3: I used to read these weird books. I can't remember the names of them but they were about things like the neighbor being a mummy and the 8th grade teacher being from outer space. They were amusing at the time. I also liked the caterpillar book where the caterpillar ate everything in sight.

Topic #4: My first pet was a calico cat named Buster. He was my scientific research partner. We were testing whether or not cats always land on his feet by me throwing him downstairs. The research made significant breakthrough and the results were pretty amusing. He died when my babysitter threw him and the other two cats I owned into a bag and then drown them in a river. Then threatened to stab me with a knife if I ever told anyone.

Topic #5: I was intensely afraid of the dark as a kid. I also have an overactive imagination, so yes, I believed things lived in my closet and under my bed. Pretending they were my friends is one of the only reasons I made it through childhood without going insane.

Topic #1: I vaguely remember a cake with Batman on it when I was five. One of those Safeway cakes with the crummy plastic pieces on it. That was the last time I got a birthday cake.

Topic #2: I remember my brother and sister getting spoiled but I always happened to be absent when they did that. It happened that way a lot... I just now begin to sense a pattern.

Topic #3: Probably Harry Potter. No one read to me when I was a kid, and I didn't start reading a whole lot until the sixth grade and when I did I started with that. From there I got into the fantasy scene and graduated to better books.

Topic #4: A black lab named Chubs.

Topic #5: No. I was scared of people outside my window actually, like they were peaking in at me while I slept. I was afraid someone would break in and choose my window to do it.

Topic #1: Ummm, I can't remember too many of my birthday cakes but I know I had one one year that was in the shape of a giant chocolate hedgehog which was pretty awesome.

Topic #2: I'm not sure I can think of anything for this one but one of my most cherished memories of my grandparents was when they used to live with me (Many, many years ago, I was like 5 or something) and I used to do jigsaws and read stories with my Grandad.

Topic #3: I'm not sure I remember what its called but I think it was called the 'Hungry caterpillar' or something.

Topic #4: My first pet was a lutino cockatiel called Magic. He was and always will be my baby. Eventhough he passed away late 2008 I still love him and think of him as one of my closest friends who was able to make me smile no matter what.

Topic #5: Not trolls, more like a flesh eating robot that lived on my landing (right outside my door xD). I woke up one night and I must have been half asleep or something because I just saw it there right outside my door. Thinking of it now gives me goosebumps O.O' .

Haha, I have memory problems! :D

Topic #1: What was the coolest birthday cake you've ever had as a kid?

Y'know, I don't really remember! I do know, however, that I had this really great lemon pudding cake for my birthday last year. I mean, I'd had it before, but god, I love it so much.

Topic #2: What is your best childhood memory of being spoiled and loved by your grandparents? (If you've never known your grandparents, you can choose another family member!)

I really don't recall any fond memories of my grandparents on my mom's side, since they've always been rather absent from my life. I mean, I see them for Christmas and the occasional birthday, but eh. On my dad's side... my grandpa was killed in an accident three months before I was born. My grandma remarried a while later, and I always considered that man to be my grandfather on that side. They used to take me to museums and stuff, which is great, because I love museums. Then he died in 2004, and my grandma's become even more of a nervous, paranoid, often bitter old lady than she used to be. It's sad to think about.

Topic #3: What was your favorite book as a child?

Typical childhood books, I suppose. Beverly Cleary's Ramona Quimby series, Charlotte's Web, Harry Potter, and so on.

Topic #4: What was your first pet and what was its name?

We had a dog named Candy when I was born. However, she died when I was 2 or so, so I don't really remember her. When I was 5 or so we got a half-malamute half-husky that I named Jasmine (Aladdin was my favorite movie back then). I guess I'd call her my first pet. Then we had to give her away just a couple years later. Much like pretty much all of my later pets. :(

Topic #5: Did you believe in anything like trolls under your bed or closet monsters as a kid? If so, which one scared you the most?

Nothing like that, I don't think. My parents did say, however, that I had a deranged half-brother living in the attic when I was little. I believed them, too. ーへー

What was the coolest birthday cake you've ever had as a kid?
My grandma makes the best cake ever. I recently learned how to make it myself and now I can have it whenever I want! It's like this heath cake thing with veins of caramel in it :3

What is your best childhood memory of being spoiled and loved by your grandparents? (If you've never known your grandparents, you can choose another family member!)
My grandparents are awesome. They would always fly us to their house for the summer and takes us to all of the touristy places and we'd have a lot of fun n.n

What was your favorite book as a child?
I wish I still had the books I had when I was in Illinois. I think a bunch of them got stuck in the DONATE pile or something because all of my favorites are gone! I had a lovely story book filled with some fairy tales and stuff like The Velveteen Rabbit. It was really nice and I wish I still had it.

What was your first pet and what was its name?
When I was two and my parents and I were moving out of our grandparents' house we took my dad's cat that he'd had since he was thirteen. We stopped at a gas station or something on the way there and he ran away. We never saw him again ;_;! A year or so later we got another cat named Bud.

Did you believe in anything like trolls under your bed or closet monsters as a kid? If so, which one scared you the most?
I...had a trash bag...in a tree. I was sitting in my little swing under the huge tree in my grandma's back yard and a black trash bag got caught in it. It was super windy that day so it looked strange and made horrible noises. I was aware of the fact that it was a trash bag but it still scared me a lot! I didn't get on a swing again for like two years! I absolutely adored the Crypt Keeper but stuff like the spaces between the planks on the deck and going from carpet to tile scared me. I was an odd child :|

I... never had a really cool cake. My childhood has been ruined now that I've realized this...

Topic #2: What is your best childhood memory of being spoiled and loved by your grandparents? (If you've never known your grandparents, you can choose another family member!)
Hmm... :bou::bou::bou::bou:, nothing there either. Unless you count when my grandmother bought Final Fantasy VII for me when I was 8. <3

Topic #3: What was your favorite book as a child?
I read all the Harry Potter books every year of elementary school, up until the last one came out in Middle school. Loved them.

Topic #4: What was your first pet and what was its name?
I always had a dog when I was little, but the first pet that was ever truly mine to take care of and such was a dove. His name was Romeo, and he was adorable. (:

Topic #5: Did you believe in anything like trolls under your bed or closet monsters as a kid? If so, which one scared you the most?
I was never scared of anything like that until I watched some movie called Darkness Falls, then I was scared of all of it.

Topic #1: Mine was a double-layered vanilla/confetti cake with confetti icing. For what birthday, you ask? My 20th XD

Topic #2: Childhood? Does now count? But seriously, my grandparents always help me out, so I'm not sure if that would count as being spoiled. I don't ask them for much. I'm usually asking them if they need help, honestly. If I had to put down an answer, mine would be when they bought me my first bed when I moved out of the dorms. It was a king sized bed and I still have it to this day. Its a very comfy and lovely bed. I didn't really ask for it, but they knew I needed one and I guess they figured this would last much longer than any other bed.

Topic #3: Anything by Shel Silverstein (Where the Sidewalk Ends, A Light in the Attic, Falling Up, Runny Babbit).

Topic #4: My first personal pet was a hamster that I received from my 5th grade teacher and her family. His name was "Hammie" and he was a rather fat hamster. He ran away when my cousin let him out of his cage and he got outside through our front door. Another pet I had while I was on vacation in Arizona with my family was "Lizzard." He was a pretty cool lizard to have for about a month. He escaped the day after I left. Supposedly, he still visits with his family, from what my aunt and uncle tell me. My family has had several dogs, but I do not claim them as my own. My one and only pet at the moment is "Mori," my Russian Blue/Domestic mixed cat.

Topic #5: I was a chicken as a child, so of course I believed in things being underneath my bed. Mine were demons, vampires, ghosts, possessed spirits, dead relatives, aliens, zombies.... yeah, I was a troubled child.

On my dads side my Grandma got a complete stranger to give her, my sister and myself a piece of his wedding cake. The fact that he actually gave it to her was better than the cake though. :p

I wanna know story about Puppa!

My sister and her friend were on the carport roller skating. I was out there watching them, and uh.. well, see I was very small, and in the middle of toilet training. So I decided I'd just go outside (lazy child!)

anyway, I think most of this memory is fabricated from a photo in the album and the phrase "Puppa eat!" But indeed, Puppa ate.

Topic #3: Anything by Shel Silverstein (Where the Sidewalk Ends, A Light in the Attic, Falling Up, Runny Babbit).

Ohhhh, how could I have forgotten Shel? I adored all of his books.

I love Shel. I wish I could get a collection of all his works. I think his books were the first I read by myself without any help as a child. Also made me fall in love with poetry :)

I got one of his books when I was in third grade and adored it.

I got another one for Christmas two years ago and felt like I was a little kid again. I think I may even read one of them tonight.

Topic #1: What was the coolest birthday cake you've ever had as a kid?
my mum once made me a cake in the shape of tweety bird's head :)

Topic #2: What is your best childhood memory of being spoiled and loved by your grandparents? (If you've never known your grandparents, you can choose another family member!)
they're my great-aunt and -uncle, and as a kid they gave me everything! i swear three-quarters of the books in my three bookshelves are all from them. they still send me a postcard by regular snail mail at least once a month from places all over australia (they're big travellers). my great-uncle also has a habit of slipping two $50 notes into my hand everytime he hugs me :)

Topic #3: What was your favorite book as a child?
holy moly this is a hard one.. soo many! i can't narrow it down to one so you're just going to have to deal with a list :p
anne of green gables series, harry potter series, his dark materials trilogy, princess diaries series, and the children of the wind series.

Topic #4: What was your first pet and what was its name?
a rabbit called thumper :jess:

Topic #5: Did you believe in anything like trolls under your bed or closet monsters as a kid? If so, which one scared you the most?
don't think so.. i remember being pretty scared of ghosts though. i also hated still being awake when my parents went to bed and the house went suddenly all dark and quiet. these days i can't sleep if there's noise or light :roll2

My first pet was also a dog called Candy. My mother gave her away after she had puppies. I was 3.

In response to the questions, my most memorable birthday cake was AMAZING. It had blue-green sky, puffy clouds, a rainbow and a GIANT UNICORN THAT WISHED ME A HAPPY BIRTHDAY. One cool thing my dad always did for us was allow us to pick our own theme for our birthday cake. My second most memorable was my 16th. It was black with red icing and had REO Speedwagon lyrics on it.

My family have never been spoilers, so I don't have a clear answer for this one. Hrm.

From age 2-4 I had this book where all the Disney characters, even Horace the Horse, held a surprise picnic for Mickey. I could read that book by the time I was 3. Couldn't read anything else, though.

I never did believe in anything under my bed. I sure as hell believed Bloody Bones lived in the woods and would kill me dead if I went out after bedtime. :stare:

Topic #1: What was the coolest birthday cake you've ever had as a kid?
Everyone knows I hate cake, so the coolest birthday cake I've ever had would've been the ice-cream one my aunt made once. =]

Topic #2: What is your best childhood memory of being spoiled and loved by your grandparents? (If you've never known your grandparents, you can choose another family member!)
I still get spoilt by grandmama now! She gives me money all the time xD

Topic #3: What was your favorite book as a child?
Goosebumps were great, but I think I'll go with Choose Your Own Adventure. My mum thought I was bonkers whenever she saw me reading it. She didn't understand why I wasn't reading it 'properly'.

Topic #4: What was your first pet and what was its name?
Due to my mothers hatred of all things animal, I've had to put off getting a pet until only very recently. I had three mice - Nugget, Latté and Sundae.

Topic #5: Did you believe in anything like trolls under your bed or closet monsters as a kid? If so, which one scared you the most?
Nope.
