Do you have air conditioning in your home?

rubah

Air conditioning is a use of power to reverse the flow of entropy inside your house while speeding it outside.

No. Air conditioning is a luxury and I'm doomed to a life of poverty.

No, I don't, and right now I want to die a quick and easy death.

I've spent all day at the beach so I'm used to the heat now! :D

Yes! But my parents don't put it on because they're cheap!

No, I don't. And I never will. Ever.

No, Britain has some sort of aversion to keeping cool in summer.

Mind, my student house has one thing in it's favor - it is excellent at regulating temperature in the heat. I actually thought today was much colder than it was until I went outside.

On the downside the radiators can't be controlled so when they come on, even in winter it can end up completely sweltering.

Yes, but I don't use it.

No. My portable fan has been working overtime these past couple of days, though.

Yes but it's useless because my room isn't insulated like at all. It's really hot in here while the rest of the house is nice and cool. And I can't just open my windows or it'll all escape! I have a ceiling fan but if I grab the box fan my mom gets mad 'cause that's her fan that she uses when she's on the computer. That room isn't insulated well either.

HELL YES! I would die without my AC. I don't like the heat. With the cold you can always put another layer on. When it's hot you can only take off so much! I love my AC. My house is eternally at 70F :)

I don't have it at home. At work they have it at the shop part at the front, but that the place is so massive it really does nothing. It was SO SO hot today, especially as we're situated above a gym (it's DWSports) and apparently down there was sweltering! We still have to wear our horrendous heat absorbing uniform, I literally had sweat forming on my top lip I was that friggin hot.

No air-con in the back with the stock and staff room. It's a sauna back there.

I have air conditioning, and I am enjoying it in this summer weather.

I voted no anyways.

Central air is great. I can practically taste it. And it's yummy. :smug:

I'd agree. I love central air.

Not that it's ever on in this house though. ;[

After having to go two summers without having an AC in my car, I am enamored with my new car's AC. I have it on almost always. Gas waster, but ahhhh! I don't care!

I'm disappointed at the lack of Daily Mail headlines screeching about HOTTEST SUMMER ON RECORD and HOSEPIPE BANS NATIONWIDE WILL MAKE HOUSE PRICES RISE/FALL

Yes I do.. I have ten air conditioning splits in my house. :)

Momiji

We do, but my mom refuses to turn it on half of the time.

Doesn't really matter anyway, since it never reaches my smurfing room. Heat doesn't make it to my room in winter, either, but I have a space heater for that.

I have a fan on me at all times in the summer at my mom's house. It's got to the point where I can't even sleep without it on. If it gets cold, I'll turn the heater on and leave the fan on as well. :p

Yes, and it's on 24/7 because I live with wastefuls.

Yes, but we only use it when it gets really hot out. I prefer to have the windows open with a fan on :p

Yep! Expensive as hell to keep on right now, though.

My parents just have window units that we only keep in during the summer months. Since it's been so mild thus far, they haven't been put in though.

It's incredibly nerve-wracking to install a heavy AC window unit from the inside of a second-floor room. I'm always afraid it's just gonna fall out and smash on the ground.

Nope. My apartment tends to lean toward the chilly side, so we may crack out the heaters in winter (thought we're more likely to layer up instead) but air conditioning has never been required in my home.

I guess it is a lie.

Same here. Before I lived with these particular individuals, I almost never used my air conditioner, unless it was unbearably hot out. These folks however, never open a window or door no matter what, and don't believe in fans apparently, so they just turn the air on a the drop of a hat. I don't think it's been turned off in weeks now.

And then they wonder why we get $500 electric bills. :eep:

Erm... I have a fan? English people don't tend to bother with air con. Although we do have it in the house in Cyprus and it's a lifesaver. Keeps me cool and keeps the bugs out :smug:

Levian

I don't really need it. The weather rarely gets unbearably hot here in Norway, opening up a window is often enough.

Nope, fans only! However summers here can be hell and I am a wuss against heat, so I wouldn't say no to ever getting one in the future.

I always have been content with just a fan. It always seemed to me that air conditioning was too much for normal-sized rooms, too cold, but worked well with large buildings, like super markets.

I have a fan instead. More enviro friendly or something. If I'm hot, I just get naked and go play in water like most Australians ;)

I'll worry about being friendly to the environment when it reciprocates, Jiro.

Are you sure that's environment friendly? :greenie:

I don't have AC. My apartment becomes a giant oven sometimes though. Opening windows and turning on the fan works... most of the time. At other times I wish I had AC.

Air condition? In norway? Hahaha no.

I miss central air...

Now I said before that there ten air cons at my place..But we never turn it on during the day cause my parents will be :mad2: when they see the $$ sent over to them... So it only turns on during the nights .... At least we have ceiling fans on full blast! :D

Chloe.

I don't have it in my house, but we have it where I work. At the weekend when I was working, I would just go and stand under one of the air vent thingys whenever I became super hot. :p The fitting room air-con didn't work though and so whenever I went in there it was like walking into a sauna, not only that but it smelt of people's sweat and smelly feet :stare:

BJ's grandparents had an insulation company, so this house is very well insulated and has big French doors, so when it has to get really hot outside before I bother with the A/C, and then that works well too.

This morning I put the heater on for a bit. ^_^

If my room isn't below 70F at all times, I murder kittens without remorse for every second that goes by.

Fortunately, I have an AC unit.

And of course, after I voted so confidently "yes, I have ac!", I went to stay with my sister, who is not making use of her ac currently.

Last night was dreadful.

But we borrowed my parents' box fan and have it set up blowing out of a room across the hallway and have closed off other doors, so there's a lovely breeze coming in.

fire_of_avalon
05-25-2010, 03:46 AM
Nope. Never had a need for it where I live. Sometimes it does get murderous hot, but I have fans.
