They're a local band, but just not to my town. I'm going to count them anyway since they go to my best friend's school a couple hours north.

The Arcade Fire
Karkwa
Malajube

Montreal is full of talented musicians... most of them don't go international just because they sing in french.

When I lived in Chapel Hill my favorite local band was The Never. They're a great sort of indie, folky group.

I don't actually have a favorite local band in Asheville. I need to look into that.

I guess any kind of up-and-coming artist will count.

I'm not even sure Colorado has a good music scene.

I mean we have 3OH!3 but that's about it.

I'm sorry we gave the world 3OH!3.

Atheist (http://www.last.fm/music/Atheist/). Though I'm not sure whether they're local anymore, but they formed here in the mid-eighties.

I thought Kisschasy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXwTc4GBfFk) and The Getaway Plan (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbkmnkIfgIo) were both from Sydney, but it turns out they're Victorian.

So I dunno... The Wiggles? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16MmxCfhbOU)

Actually, I was recently introduced to a local, up-and-coming band called The Rouge Balloon (http://www.myspace.com/therougeballoon). I've loved their first EP, but I wouldn't have heard of them if I didn't know the lead singer through her mother. =S

All bands that originate in Idaho Suck.
Micky and the Motorcars are pretty good, and if you include Josh Ritter as being a "band" from Idaho, I'd say the state far surpasses the average good-band-to-capita put up by other states.
