View Full Version : Am I under-leveled?

I'm playing the GBA version and have been following a walkthrough for some areas...I'm in the first world going to the Ronka Ruins, and all my characters are on level 20, with their job classes all being around lv. 3 or 4. The guy who wrote the walkthrough gives his levels for some areas, and his say level 27-30. Am I under-leveled or is he over-leveled? What's a good level to be at this point in the game? I don't want to struggle late-game and have to spend hours catching up on levels I could have gradually built up at my current point. I'm not battling with any of the random monsters or bosses but with FF you never know :p you can be kicking ass for hours and then suddenly go into a new area where the monsters/bosses destroy you.

Any advice?

I remember I was always on a lower level than what the walkthrough said on FFV, so you probably aren't. I don't remember what an appropriate level for the Ronka Ruins is though. If it helps any, I'm at around level 55 and I'm at the final boss. I'm underlevelled I think. :D

I was on level 30 at that point during my solo character challenge which i felt was over levelled. Level 20 is a good solid level.

And Levian, first time i beat the game i was level 54 so again i think you're fine.

Leveling up after hitting the 50 mark becomes horribley tedious and repetetive and there's really no need.

Levels really don't mean much in this game for a normal playthrough. As long as you keep up on leveling the job classes and picking up the right equipment you don't need levels as much. I was around level 43 when I beat the game on the Anthology version. I was higher in levels for later playthroughs but that's because I grind for the unholy Dual-Wield/Barrage/Flare sword combo...

What's Barrage? There's so many different words for the abilities in the various versions!

X-Fight or Sshot! depending on the version, is the final ability of the Hunter class which allows you to attack four times in a row.

Ah, righto. That's a badass move indeed.

I believe it's Rapid Fire in FFV:Advance :spin:

My bad, I was thinking of the name given in FFIIIDS

Late to the party I suppose, but Kanno's right on, levels aren't that important in the game, especially on the final boss where mastering job classes becomes more important for stat bonuses. I beat the game for the first time with my highest levels being 38 (just this morning actually) and though I ran into some minor difficulties it was more because powerful attacks surprised me, not because it was actually difficult. Even beat it on the first try so it's not that hard.

It's simple, really. If you think the game is too hard to be fun, level up a bit. If it's too easy, avoid levelups. Don't pay attention to "recommended levels", if you can handle the fights, the level is high enough.

It's called Barrage in FF11 too! That's probably where they got it from when translating FF3 for the DS.

I was pretty underleveled at the time of the final boss/dungeon. All of my characters were like, level 35. Beat it by doing like 3-4 hours of sidequests and using Bahamut/Mime.
