IMO, games can't break consoles. Only careless gamers can be blamed for such thing. My friend's 60 gb fat PS3 got broken "due to" FFXIII, but he was kind of stupid, cuz he played 14 hours in a row... Moreover, he never cleaned his console in a year and a half, so the optical lense was very dusty. It's not a surprise that under these circumstances poor PS3 died (problem was overheating, of course).

BtW, I don't think that this lawsuit will achieve anything...

Anyone can file a lawsuit. Winning it is another matter entirely. Unless they win the lawsuit, I wouldn't give the story much credence.

I experienced a type of graphical glitch while playing Final Fantasy XIII, but I suspect that it was the fault of the console. I was able to replicate the issue with a different copy of the game.

It happens sometimes.It happened with me on Uncharted1.
It is related to a PS3 update issue.You should actualize your PS3 if that happens.

because I was once a big fan of the series as a whole. having a passion for FF means that I am angry with where I feel the series has been headed for over 5 years...

That is all there is to it. If you like something and it starts changing to something which barely resembles why you started enjoying it (and barely resembles even being a JRPG), then obviously you get critical of that. Hate isn't the correct word.
