Chances are each of you posters on this board is passionate about a Final Fantasy game or two, and that those passions have involved you in (or caused) a heated debate of sorts regarding the merits/faults of your game of choice. For instance, I'm a big supporter of both V and VII, while I'll detract all day long when it comes to X or XIII. Obviously, most people don't have strong feelings for each game in the series, so my question is this:
Which game(s) do you find yourself never, ever thinking about? That one game whose details you forget and whose replaying often gets passed over in lieu of its more attractive siblings?
My answer: Final Fantasy IV.
Now, it's not a bad game by any stretch. It's very solid and enjoyable and charming and all those things that mattered before JRPGs started trying to be movies. The thing is, for me, it's just fine. That's it. A good game that really only gets played when I get the urge to do a marathon of a certain era's entries. I enjoy my time with it, but I've never once gotten into a discussion about it, whether for praise or to get critical. (Hell, I doubt I've even seen the IV board on this site.) If you ask me how to get a certain item, or how to kill some tough boss, the recollection will be lost in a thick mist of indifference. It holds absolutely no nostalgia for me. If Final Fantasy IV died, I'd probably go to the funeral, but only to support my mourning friends Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI.
So, indifference at FFs. Go, if it's even worth talking about.

Final Fantasy III, mostly, but then I never finished it. From the parts I played, it wasn't bad, it just wasn't remarkable in any way to me.

FFIV and FFIII are my least favorite, and I imagine the other pre-FFVI titles as well but I've only played those two. They're good games and all, they're just everything I personally don't like in my RPGs. FFX and XIII are my favorites and I can gush about how much I like them all day. FFIX and FFVI are my "meh" titles. I really enjoyed them the first time I went through, but I never get around to playing a second time.

This... is kinda hard for me really cause I tend to only feel about the games in one way or the other. I will have to think about this but its leaning towards II, VIII, and XI for the moment. I pretty much love most of the series with the exceptions of two titles.

FF2
With the leveling system the way it is I can't really take the game seriously enough to have a valid opinion on it. And playing through it legit without exploiting is most likely only going to introduce negative feelings, so it is effectively forever confined to limbo.
FF8
I played this right to the last dungeon before I quit, and was extremely put off at that point. Over time I have come to realize that while I will never love the game I wasn't exactly being fair and it deserves a second chance. Problem is that when I went to give it another try I realized how much I liked Squall at the start of the game and how much I hated his 'development', and though I may appreciate other elements of the game playing again it will still leave a bad taste in my mouth no matter what. So seeing as I won't give it a fair chance I usually decline to think about it.
FF11
For all intents and purposes FF skipped a number for me.
Probably VIII. The game wasn't too bad, but everytime I try to finish it, I get to about mid third disk and just get very very bored and can't play it anymore.
-cue waiting for a year and starting a new game- rinse and repeat.

FFXI was a good game, but not great compared to IV, VI, VII, or IX and not as unspectacular as say, II, V, VIII, or XII.
XI.

I really really liked FFV to FFX, and FFXI gave me a unique enough experience to always be remembered. FFIV I still consider memorable even though it's not as divine as the others. FF1 is a game I forgot quickly and never picked up again. FFXIII might fall into this category in a couple years as well, I don't think I'll pick up that game again when I'm done with it.
Just FF1 for now, I guess!

Final Fantasy II I think. That emperor guy scares me, seeing him is like having a bunch of snakes wriggling all over me and him talking is like the snakes bitting and sending their venom to me. :(

I actually bought FFXII at release, played it for a while, and then completely forgot about it for about a year until I realized I never beat it. So then I went and beat it real quick so I could be done with it. So that one.

VII for me. The Materia system was fun and had great music and Yuffie and Cid were pretty cool. Everything else was pretty meh.

FFII-IV, really. I dislike FFVIII and FFX more than any of those, but I think about them more because I dislike them so much.

Final Fantasy VII and X. I remember some details here and there, the most important ones, and I only think about them when discussing Final Fantasy with a friend.

The Final Fantasy series might've well as started from V in my books. I-IV don't really pop up in my mind when I'm bored and I feel like I want to replay an old FF game.
II-V for me. I have to go back and conquer them at some point, but they just didn't grip me (IV and V had good shots but then emu fail)
