So this is a little experiment, of the options above, which would you rather have from SE? Feel free to vote but I would love if you elaborated on why. :mog:

A friend and I were discussing full console remakes of the majority of Final Fantasy titles using the graphics engine and battle system of Final Fantasy XIII (the only decent part of the game). I figure it'd be pretty neat so long as the stories were not changed in any way.

Decent sequels to Vagrant Story, Chrono Trigger/Cross, and Tactics would also be appreciated. I've never played Threads of Fate and I disliked the Kingdom Hearts series since the first game.

A console remake of V wouldn't work, and a console remake of VII, VIII, or IX would be unnecessary. A console remake of FFVI could be good, but I feel it would lose a bit of it's charm. Overall, just get me the next FF :)

Seeing V all prettied up and with voice acting would be awesome. As long as they'd leave the Advanced script alone. And a bigger post-game, at least give us something to do while messing with the Necromancer.

Almost all of those ideas sound smurfing awesome, but I'm going to have to go with option 6 on this one. Watching SE develop games these days is like watching your favourite sports team try to compete after all of its most talented players go free agent or get traded.

Why no option for a full console High Def remake of the original? Granddad deserves it the most.

I want a Threads of Fate and a Kingdom Hearts sequel more than anything though. I have a feeling we won't be getting that Thread though. Please let me be absolutely wrong.

As I was reading through the list all I was thinking was "man, I don't have faith in SE to do any of these well anymore". And then I saw it was the last option. And then I died a little bit inside because I realized I can't actually be excited about anything SE may be doing in the future.

I was having such a good day until I opened this thread.

Assuming I had faith they would do it well I would want something Chrono or FFT2. And by FFT2 I mean like the original FFT, no lame Ivallice alliance junk with all the stupid tacked on races and other stuff I hate.

I picked the first option mainly to see FFV and FFVI. I'm happy with VII, VIII, and IX how they are. It would have been a better option if it was remakes of 1,2,5,6.

FFXV, but an actual good FF for the first time in about 10 years.

Had to go for the KH sequel. I just want 3 to come out already, getting a bit sick of having to buy different hand held devices.

A remake of the older ones because I dislike outdated graphics and midi music.

But the sprites and midi music are charming in their own way :p

I'll pick a Sequal to (blah), since it's nice to have something a bit more different to final fantasy :p

This was a really difficult decision for me.
In the end, I decided to go with a Final Fantasy XV which is more of a reflection of my desperate desire to have my faith restored in the series.

There is no X option, the PS2 era doesn't need remakes yet, unless you are wanting another sequel. :p

Definitely FFvXIII and Agito. They could potentially be good games, I want something new. The older games are fine just the way they are, we wouldn't love them if they weren't (or at least in their remade form.)

As far as the side games, let sleeping dogs lie, try to do that again this generation instead of repeating the past's successes.

It needs to be a new day, a do-over, so let's see how Versus and Agito turn out.

THEY ARE "REMAKING"/"REIMAGINING"/"WE'RE NOT TOO SURE WHAT THEY'RE DOING!!!" TACTICS OGRE ON THE PSP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

VeloZer0

I honestly never saw what the big deal about tactics ogre was, nor how FFT was so inspired by it. I'll admit I didn't get very far into it. I tried it far before I tried FFT and after a few hours I just thought 'meh' and put it down. Maybe I should give it another spin.

Another note about FFT2. It must have NOTHING to do with any game SE has produced. A completely independent entity. I want them to build me a new and exciting world. No baggage, not ret-cons, no making us view past game sin a different light.

Threads of Fate II please!

^ I've never actually played ToF. Sony really need to get their PSOne Classics :bou::bou::bou::bou: together. On that note, I remember when ToF, Legend of Mana and Chrono Cross were released in monthly succession for Squaresoft's 'Summer of Adventure' back in... 2000? Ah, memories. I only ever played (and enjoyed) CC, but I'd definitely drop a ten on ToF or LoM if they hit PSN.

Legend of Mana and Threads of Fate were awesome games, you better pick them up if they are ever become available.

Also a note to people: The sequel option applies to any game in the SE library, this includes more sequels to the Compilation, FFIV and the FFX.

Versus XIII looks good at this preliminary stage. I think SE's due for a real winner and this might just be the won. I almost voted for FFXV because a part of me just wants them to get back to releasing proper mainstream titles in numerical succession - no going back and forth to do spin-offs, sequels, remakes, three-part moneymilkers etc., I also remember the hype around Chrono Break when the name was trademarked by the company. It would've been nice to see the Chrono series added to.

Definitely a good sequel to Tactics or Vagrant Story. I'm not overly eager for a remake because it's just the same game and I'd rather have a new good game (though I would play a remake of VI or VII). I also do not have much hope for FFXV.

I think it has to do with how abysmal people found XIII, the fact that no one cares about handheld titles which is why Agito is practically outright ignored despite being pretty close to finish, and the way Nomura has been talking, Versus might still be a few years off. Not to mention beyond two trailers and a few screenshots, no one has even seen how Versus is going to play doesn't help much. Really, despite being announced four years ago, we still know very little about the game, at least not enough to get overwhelmingly excited for.

I'm also ignoring the fact that some people still probably wonder why Versus and Agito even have the XIII moniker since they have very little to do with the actual XIII besides re-using terminology like L'Cie and the Goddess Etro despite all development teams say the similarities are in name only. Its a wonder why SE just doesn't name Versus FFXV at this point cause XI and XIV are entirely different genres so would it really matter if a numbered entry was an action RPG?

See, this just makes me angry. It's not like these are obscure titles. They've already been released here. What is this, 1992?

Releasing it for $10 on PSN for PS3 and PSP is probably more likely to get people to play it than having it as a full price PSP game, imo.

I'm not going to buy a full price game unless I'm sure I'm going to like it, a PSN game is worth it even if it holds my interest for an afternoon.

I'd love to see remakes of V and VI as long as SE doesn't screw them up. On the 3DS would be really nice. ;D

remakes make me leery, just because since nowadays they're able to include voices and the likeliness for a horrible english dub is just too great. not to mention the fear that they might totally screw it up by trying to add to it but only succeed in making it cliche.

frankly, i think lately square is just skating on the fact that they're square...and more importantly that they pander to what's most popular at the moment, rather than taking the time and effort into making an ageless classic.

x3 so yeah, i chose the last option...

I picked remakes because it seems it's all SE is still good at. III DS was a great game, could have been tons better of course, IV DS was good.

Though I wouldn't mind a sequel to FFTA. A sequel that actually does the game justice, I mean. Not like FFTA2, which just scrapped about all that was good about TA and had no story whatsoever.
