How is there not a topic about this game? It seems to be getting rave reviews even from those who hate JRPGs and now that I'm playing it I see why. I've not had so much fun with an RPG in quite some time. Also, handhelds are certainly the place for JRPGs.
There's so much stuff to do on the side and it's easy to jump back into the story at any point. Sometimes I just feel like going out and doing a few little quests. Sometimes I feel like going out and farming some alchemy ingredients to make some awesome armor that's better than available shop gear. Sometimes I feel like going into a grotto and doing a little side dungeon with a special boss. Then I feel like jumping back into the main story.
The main story plays out about as cliché as any other similar RPGs. However, each little piece of the story feels like a bite-sized vignette. I take a little piece and then go do some other stuff if I feel like it.
I also love the way the vocation system works. It's got a great mix of stuff that I liked about FF V and FFXI.
I'm enjoying the game so much and was telling my wife about it and it finally made us break down and buy a DSi XL and an extra copy just so that we can play co-op. I'm really looking forward to that.
