The developers at first planned to make Lightning a flirtatious femme fatale. Fang was originally planned to be a male character. They then decided to transfer the sex appeal to Fang to make Lightning a more serious character. Thus I voted for Fang.

I bet there are tons of things that changed to something different than it started out as. Well, even though some girls are tomboys, they still have a sizable number of feminine traits. Lightning's final designation, however, doesn't have many feminine traits. In fact, the game developers even stated that she isn't very feminine. I also think they should have given her the more exotic real name of Averia instead of Claire, which I think of as a girly name. Her real name was originally intended to be Averia before they changed with to Claire.

Also, for some odd reason, I'm starting to feel as though Lightning's real name should have been either Samantha, Amanda, or Andrea, since she is very manly. Think of it this way: Samantha and Amanda, and Andrea is derived from the Greek word for man. Furthermore, I think Serah's name should have been Claire, since she isn't a princess, like the various other characters named Sara(h) in the series. Alternately, I think they could have called her Sarabeth, in order to differentiate and further distinguish her from the others.

As others have said, Fang and Lightning are quite... manly-ish with their actions, and Vanille is very cute.

For me personally, I'll have to choose Fang for this poll. I really like that she is strong and stubborn but at the same time she cares for Vanille and she has caring mother-like qualities which I appreciate in a person.
