View Full Version : Genre blending!

Recently I saw Pan's Labyrinth for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it. Without knowing too much about it, I figured it was a classic fantasy adventure with a standard moral at the end. It was, to my surprise, so much more! Guillermo Del Toro should receive a great big hug for successfully blending two diverse genres: fantasy and war/history. :cheer:

So, my question is: What are your viewing experiences with films that combine different genres? Did the style work?

I had a serious answer to that question, but I forgot while I was staring at that smiley for 20 minutes.

But seriously, Scott Pilgrim had a few genres in it that I thought were blended awesomely. I'll think of many more, but that's what I'll put for now.

Some Action+Comedies are brilliant, particularly ones with Jackie Chan

"Pan's Labyrinth" is a great movie, indeed. :D

I prefer genres blending to be honest. There's nothing more horrificly boring than a straight-out horror movie, and there's nothing more amusingly pathetic than a comedy movie without some horror.

Sci-fi/ horrors are thrilling.
