Well, duh!

It has litterally become a phrase of mine for both movies and games (I don't know if TV Serieses do it) when they decide to pay homage to their previous products - "Oh yeah, this is the FFIX of the series". For example, I concidered The Final Destination to be the FFIX of the FD series - the film contained so many references to the previous FD films (may of them where subtle and FFIX like). God, I love that movie!

Did you ever concider using this phrase? Have you found anything else that could be the FFIX of it's franchise?

You can move this if you want, it may go off topic.

I never thought of associating things with FFIX like that!

The new Star Trek flick for the Star Trek franchise. Problem is, the movie is trash, and the franchise is... also kind of trash at times, but kind of awesome too at others!

Scott Pilgrim is basically the FFIX to the entire 8 and 16-bit eras of console gaming.

I hope I'm not reviving yet, but I'm begining to think that maybe Soul Calibur III is the FFIX of the Soul Series to some degree? A lot of the music is from Soul Calibur, the game fetures old characters as far as Soul Blade (include one that's supposed to be dead), and just basically seems to be refering back a few times... I dunno, it just seems that way.
