Relieved that everything seems functional. Other than that, still a lot of work to do - particularly images - so no rest for the wicked just yet. :p

I liked the old one better. Layout seems weird now.

Raistlin
09-17-2010, 02:39 PM
The layout always seems weird after a change. You'll get used to most of it. I was happy with the old version, but an upgrade to vB4 was inevitable.

I will at least be content once all the hideous default images are removed.

Loony BoB
09-17-2010, 02:41 PM
It should be noted that things such as customisable postbit location and the like will be worked on over the weekend (probably won't take long as we have them on our test forum okay), so that sort of thing will be sorted soon enough.

I'm so pumped! I like the look a lot!

Meh. I don't like the new look, but I'll have to get used to it since there's no going back. Bring it on!

The Shrine changed to a smiliar look recently, so I suppose that most forums have to move? I looks good, though. :)

Madame Adequate

I'm not happy, I've had a crap day.

I'm not even going to get started on the alleged upgrade lest I sound like a 15 year old.

Del Murder

My precious simplified is no longer simple. :(

Classic looks pretty good though.

There are obviously things that need work but all will be sorted out in time.

Also is this thing supposed to be this slow or is that just a temporary problem with the servers?

The only time I noticed a considerable slowdown was when I used quick reply. Anyone else?

Other styles will be made but for now what you see is what you get...

Rye
09-17-2010, 04:52 PM
I really, REALLY like this new style now. It's like a mix between EoFF 2005 and Classic.

Madame Adequate
09-17-2010, 04:55 PM
This is considerably slower for me than EoFF was previously. I've had to set it to 20 posts per page just to get threads to load, and it takes longer than 100 posts per page took.

Rye
09-17-2010, 04:59 PM
Remember that it's still getting all hammered out, guys. Don't be too critical!

Logie
09-17-2010, 05:09 PM
MUST RESIST CHANGE!

Nah, I'm pretty happy with the upgrades. :) And even if I wasn't, bearing in mind the amount of work that must have gone into the change, I wouldn't dare complain. :p

TheGlassesGirl

My life was a depressing hell without EoFF.

Clo
09-17-2010, 08:33 PM
I feel scared and alone, in a desert wasteland, without my Recently Added Posts link, or whatever the smurf that link under Quick Links was called. I no longer know how to navigate this forum. I am retarded.

Bunny
09-17-2010, 09:00 PM
Can we get rid of the massive icons? They are ugly.

Other than that, it'll take some getting used to but it's not a bad upgrade. The blog section is going to get a lot of attention.

Pheesh
09-17-2010, 09:06 PM
You're the same people who ruined digg! RAGE!

Nah, I actually don't mind it. The blog thing seems pretty good, and as soon as those big envelope letters go away and Strawberry Chocolate comes back then I'll be happy again

Um, where's edit/delete?

We have plans for replacing the envelopes used for threads at the moment, although the size of the image may remain the same.

It's taking 6-8seconds to load each page everywhere on the site for me :/

Loony BoB
09-18-2010, 02:34 AM
It took me 6 seconds to load the New Reply page, but that was mostly due to the many posticons and smilies. 3 seconds for everything on the forums index and 5 seconds for General Chat (including images). 3 seconds if you don't include some of the images.

Badge
09-18-2010, 02:38 AM
It's getting quicker, it'll sort itself out. Funnily enough the quick reply is the quickest for me :D

Loony BoB
09-18-2010, 03:39 AM
Something tells me that a lot of the speed issues may be due to the server move causing people to have to re-cache all the images. Not sure though, I'm not exactly a technical genius.

Levian
09-18-2010, 11:17 AM
After I reverted to default threads per page and posts per page, I haven't noticed any slowdowns. Forums wouldn't load at all when I had a few hundred threads per page, though.

Loony BoB
09-18-2010, 12:13 PM
You had it set to 300 posts per page? x_x I didn't know we allowed it higher than 100.

EDIT: Hahaha, Lev's post is out of synch due to the timechanges we were doing. xD I'll fix that...

EDIT: There we go. Now to fix all the other posts with the same problem, if any.

Old Manus
09-18-2010, 04:13 PM
No angry posts about how they preferred the old style? No creating e-petitions to revert? No mass exodus until it gets changed back? No old vs new flamewars?

Come on guys this isn't how the internet works :(

You guys.

All of the major issues I've had with VB4 have already been hammered out. All I'm waiting for is profile pics to go back up and rep system so I can stroke my e-peen in geekly virginal solitude.

Rantz
09-18-2010, 05:08 PM
The rep system isn't working? I can rep just fine, I think!

Rye
09-18-2010, 05:26 PM
But how do I see my rep?!

Raistlin
09-18-2010, 05:27 PM
In the main page of the user cp, like always.

Loony BoB
09-18-2010, 06:21 PM
Wait, do you mean you want to see the stupid little green box? Yeah, probably won't happen. xD It's all in the User CP (Settings screen).

I am getting annoyed at the lack of User CP link in the main navbar, mind you...

Raistlin
09-18-2010, 06:29 PM
Well, maybe she wants a way for someone's rep (at least the number) to be publicly viewable. That does seem like a logical part of having a rep system in the first place. And we could always use another way to tell the truly cool people from the lame newbies.

The best part of rep is seeing people's comments in your user cp, though, so I don't care about this issue.

Loony BoB

This was never the point of our rep system. It's not so much a "reputation" system at EoFF as it is a "pat on the back" system. More about showing appreciation than showing off.

I still think that the boxes should come back, but in the form of spinning Final Fantasy Crystals. It wouldn't even be difficult.

I find it hard to see what page I'm currently viewing. I guess whatever page you used to be viewing was bold and now it isn't or something?

Raistlin
09-18-2010, 07:50 PM
That's a good point. It does say "Page X of Y" to the left of that (at least in Classic), but the particular page is not emphasized in the list of page numbers.

Pheesh
09-18-2010, 08:04 PM
Ah, I've never actually looked at that before. I'll just have to get used to using that as a reference; not that big a deal, just one of the changes I noticed I guess.

EDIT: I can't also 'mark forums read' without getting an error message.

Rye
09-18-2010, 08:08 PM
I was more confused about where the User CP WAS, since it wasn't a link on the navbar. XD I found it though! No more confusion. :)

I do miss seeing the number of rep bars people have, but it might be better for them to be gone, after all. Now Huxley can't SHOW OFF at me that his rep is higher!

EDIT: Oooh, I love how the edit box looks now.

escobert
09-18-2010, 08:19 PM
I like classic. Haven't really had any issues yet. a couple random errors here or there but that was only in the first couple hours really.

I like the new digs. [/lie] It'll take some getting used to and I'm sure there's still some kinks being worked out. It's pretty sleek looking but I miss how simple it all used to be.

But most of all I especially miss my green boxes. Now how can I laugh at having more rep than Julian when I can't actually prove that I have more rep? :(
