I don't think I've come across one person who said "Man, I've been waiting for two sequels to Independence Day since forever!"

I've been trying to think of what stories could possibly be told after the end of Independence Day and I have come up with only one I would want to see: The aliens somehow absorbed that kamikaze crop duster redneck guy into some sort of hivemind, and have now made him their Emperor. He now rules with an iron fist and challenges Will Smith to a kung fu battle for the fate of the Earth.

And Jackie Chan can be Smith's trainer!

Fantastic. You and I should go into business together as movie execs.

Yeah.. I'm not only appalled, but I'm also extremely confused. Considering the story, the Earth and its government(s) are likely in a shambles, why Will Smith? I mean I get the Hollywood excuse "'Cause he's Will Smith". But from a story stand-point. The only likely explanation is to praise the savior and make him king. But wouldn't that honor need to go to Jeff Goldblum? Will Smith was basically Jeff's "White Horse" in the movie. He wasn't the general or anything. He drove the ship. Jeff saved the day. So if they were going to be this retarded, it'd only make sense that it be Jeff. But then what am I thinking? Hollywood make sense? Naw

Well, a lot has probably happened between the movies. Maybe during that time Smith's character showed a lot of leadership skills and that propelled him into the political spotlight. And he also learned kung fu.

Maybe he found the Presidential Seal as a cereal prize. Pilots eat a lot of cereal.

I'm only going to watch this movie if Edward Cullen is in it. Or AT LEAST James Bond.
