I have no idea if they still do this, but back in the day rappers would always refer to themselves as the; "[random letter] to the [random letter] to the [random letter]". What is the point of that?

The letters aren't random. D, O, double G...that spells DOGG, as in Snoop Dogg. Get it?

Rap owes its origins to freestyle battles, which typically rely on a lot of stock phrases for the rapper to throw out to keep the flow going while they think ahead to come up with something creative to diss their opponent. A good way to do that is to say how awesome you are, which involves saying your name, and after a while you have to find cool ways to say it. Spelling it with "to tha" in between each letter keeps a good rhythm.
