tip your fucking pizza delivery driver.

this message brought to you by someone who hates his other job.

are you one of the exalted few that appreciates someone delivering hot and overpriced sauce, cheese, and bread straight to their door, or are you the type that leaves the "tip" field blank on a credit card slip?

if you're the latter, i tell you to choke on a piece of pepperoni as i walk to my car.

I just go to the place and get it instead of having it delivered!

I tip. Are you happy?

I tip fairly well most of the time. Double if you're sexy.

I've never tipped delivery but that's cause I never get delivery. I have always lived too far out to get it! I will now tip if I ever some how get it though!

Having worked at multiple pizza places I know the importance of tipping well. We used to have a "Bad Tipper" list next to the phones. Some of the fellas would get a little rough with the 'za when they called in. :/

Point is I tip good. :monster:

I'll put it this way; if you're good at the service you provide and you treat your customers as if they're why you're making money (which is true) then you want me as a customer. If you suck at the service you provide to me, if you're rude or ignore me, you do not want me as a customer.

The people who deliver pizzas get paid extra for the ware and tear on their vehicle. And it costs an extra $2 for delivery. So they're getting paid extra twice already. I tip, but honestly, I don't see why its a problem if someone doesn't, considering these variables

I will be honest: I will give you two bucks if you show up and give me pizza, per pizza. A pizza delivery person's job is to deliver pizzas; you are not my employee, so why do I need to give you money to do your job? I am already paying for overpriced sauce, cheese, and bread; unless a delivery job is stellar, I am not shelling out bonuses.

Depends on how far I am from the place. The larger a convenience it is for me, the more I tip. I almost always do 15% at least though, no matter what it is I'm tipping on.

Does this mean you do not tip waiters or waitresses either?

Well, this is relevant now.

Waiters and waitresses also get paid much less than minimum wage, and that fact is reflected in food prices. Do delivery people get paid less than minimum wage? I honestly don't know. But I definitely tip my pizza delivery guy on the rare occasion I don't just pick it up.

EDIT: to Bunny.

I don't order pizza. I live two blocks away. Sorry! ;_;

I already tip, in case you didn't catch that.

Also, I think I stomped on a Spaceman Spiff on Halo: Reach.

Before I became a manager at my store I started out as a delivery driver and tbh I never did expect the people I was delivering to to tip me, sure I was happy when someone did but if they didn't I still did my same service.

On the flip side what did really piss me off is when you get customers on the phone who think they have a right to walk all over you because your doing a food related service, I have been in quite a few different retail jobs and never before have I met a more vicious bunch of people if their pizza was 5 minutes late, I would however always remain calm and civil to them.

I tip. And not because I have black guilt. I'm just polite.

And for Lols:

Here's a tip, GET A REAL JOB!!!

XD...lol, I love that...

Hm, so we're being robbed the delivery charge. How much would it hurt the pizza business if we stopped the whole delivery thing? That would end the debate right there. Everyone goes and gets their pizza. Hmph

Bunny

Considering the majority of businesses who offer delivery thrive on the laziness of individuals? I'd say it would fuck over quite a few of said businesses while at the same time robbing high school dropouts of lucrative careers as a food delivery specialist.

Do you wanna be that person, Vyk? Really?

People drive to McDonald's. It doesn't hurt them any. But then again, I've got two pizza places like 3 minutes away. And there's like a dozen within ten minutes. Going to get my pizza won't kill me

I hate it when I go to get carry out and there is a line for tipping on my receipt. I feel bad for these people that want a tip. But that's why you get carry out, so you don't have to tip (and it's usally faster than the delivery guy)

blackmage_nuke
10-17-2010, 02:38 AM
Yea but thats because mcdonalds is pretty much everywhere.

I usually dont get pizza delivered (i go to the place to pick it up) but if I do get delivery I just round up to the nearest note and let them keep the change.

But it becomes a bit confusing since to my knowledge tipping waiters isnt customary in Aus and im not sure if delivery is any different.

Vyk
10-17-2010, 03:50 AM
Generally I round up to the nearest 5 unless that's less than 2 dollars away. In which case I'd throw in a couple of ones. But I think I was raised to tip pizza delivery generously

Shorty

I tip people who wait on me and deliver to me. I do not tip at drive-through windows, because that's BS.

I worked at Sonic when I was a teenager, and although it's not driving five miles to deliver someone a pizza, if I'm balancing your fifty dollar meal on skates to feed your Denali full of screaming brats, you'd damn well better tip me. Or else.

delivering hot and overpriced sauce, cheese, and bread.

No I don't tip, and that's why. I'll tip if it's good service, like the guy cracks a joke or has a little chat with me while I'm getting my money out. But that's when I usually just say keep the change. Otherwise...give me my goddamn change.
I don't think tipping is as big a deal here in Britain.

When someone delivers pizza to my house, sometimes I drag them in and don't let them out for a long time. Maybe never. :)
Because of this, I don't get around to tipping much. But on the rare occasion I do, I am generous with it. :greenie:

Baloki

I don't tip any delivery guys around here because they're all lazy smurfs. The won't even come up to the door, they park down the road and ring up and say come and get it. What's worse is nowadays a lot of the local takeaways charge to deliver, so I'm paying for a delivery and still have to go for a 5 minute jaunt to get the damn thing!
