Mine are Shutter Island, Inception and The Town. And possibly Brooklyn's Finest but I'm not sure...I probably have to watch Brooklyn's Finest again to be absolutely sure.

Shutter Island, I guess! Buried was nice as well.

shutter island wasn't too bad, but I barely saw any movies this year, so I can't really compare it to a lot of other stuff.

I guess I liked Kick Ass quite a bit. Inception looked pretty interesting, but I never got a chance to watch it. I'll do it when it's out on DVD I guess.

So, far...

Like most of you, I liked "Shutter Island" quite a lot, and "Inception" to a lesser extend. As for animated movies, I absolutely loved "How to Train Your Dragon" and "Toy Story 3". For unfathomable personal reasons, I must mention "The Crazies" and "Eclipse". :D

But the year isn't over now, and these are highly anticipated:

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1"

"Skyliner"

"Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole"

"Narnia 3"

Shutter Island is pretty good, though I did guess the ending after seeing the trailer.

Inception is frigging amazing.

Scott Pilgrim is a movie made just for me.

Knight and Day was stupid and fun. And it somehow made me not hate Tom Cruise for a couple of hours.

There's only two months of 2010 left, so I "dunno" what you're waiting for!

Around now is when the Oscar-level movies come out. They specifically wait until now so they'll still be fresh in everyone's minds when nomination/voting time rolls around.

Also, The Social Network comes out this thursday here, have a feeling that'll make the list, same with Jackass 3D when I get around to seeing it.

Inception, Let Me In, and Iron Man 2. Kick Ass was fun, too. I must admit that I have not seen most movies that have come out this year yet.

I'm waiting for Black Swan. :p

It looks like it has more depth and better acting then most of of the b.s. that's come out this year.

Black Swan isn't out in the UK until February so can we do a redux thread in the spring to catch up on all the late 2010 films like that :D

It's a shame that only one mentioned Iron Man 2 while several of us mentioned Kick-Ass. The old school are supposed to show the new blood how things are done. That's what you get for rushing stuff.

Roto13

I did like Iron Man 2. I just kind of forget when movies came out.

This is why I never make a list of the best games of the year or anything.

I really liked Iron Man 2, it was great. I just think Kick Ass is a better film.

Black Swan. ;)

I've been waiting for this film for a long time and I am happy to say that the wait has paid off. Natalie Portman gave one of the best performances I've seen of an American actress in the past decade. Truly amazing. Black Swan was every bit of dramatic, intense, and captivating as I thought it would be. I'm generally good at figuring out a storyline before it reveals itself (*cough* Shutter Island *cough) but Black Swan was good at mindfucking you beyond belief. You feel like you're her. You experience her physical pain, her neurosis, her pleasure, everything. It was an intense experience. The only downside was the editing. What was with all the unnecessary dissolves? Again, I'm a perfectionist so this film was very personal to me as it was to some of the actors and the director. I used to be a ballerina. Good movie!

Toy Story 3
The Illusionist
The Social Network
Another Year

Honourable mentions: Inception, Scott Pilgrim vs the World, Catfish

Oh man. I watched it last night and it was so intense. I'm not a fan of psychological thrillers and there's a reason why, I could NOT sleep after watching this movie and when I finally did, I had nightmares. :(

But definitely one of the best movies I've seen all year long, and even beyond that. It was really masterfully done. I was worried about how Portman would pull off being a ballerina but she did a beautiful job. Not 100%, but that's only cause I was looking at it from a pretty critical eye. But I loved everything about this movie from the amaaaazing performance by Portman, the camera work, the creepy ass use of mirrors, the terror, the costume and makeup (!!!), the music, everything except for the feeling of being totally creeped the fuck out. That made for a rough night.

I'm not sure how I would rank this against Toy Story and Inception since all three are so different from each other.

Alpha and Omega was undoubtedly my favorite movie of 2010, and is already one of my favorite movies of all time. I have a much longer review of it typed out, but I was impressed with the OST, the gripping storylines, the likeable characters, the animation, the romantasisms... and the OST. :riiight:

Basically, I found it to be a good film for both kids, as well it is a kid's movie, and for adults because it does what the kid's movies of yore did - actually has structure, and a storyline rather than "let's see how many things we can make fun of in five seconds".
