View Full Version : Threading vs. Waxing

After hearing some rave reviews, I decided to finally give threading a try. Today I got my eyebrows threaded. The experience was a success, but it was more painful then I was expecting it would be. D;

Ladies, and gents (not judging), do you prefer to get your facial hair threaded, waxed, plucked, or do you shave it?

I shave because I'm not some sort of weirdo.. strange.. person..

I just paint the unwanted hair in skin colour.

There is this woman that was my substitute teacher a few times. She would shave all her eyebrows off Whoopi Goldberg style and then draw them on with a Crayola pencil.

When I was young I thought eyebrow threading involved stitching additional hair into someone's skin :(

EWWWW, Huxley!

I actually have never tried either. I just pluck. I'm probably going to get my eyebrows waxed this weekend though, because I'm becoming progressively worse at plucking my eyebrows, and I also have sneezing fits when I do that.

I usually pluck, but my one friend knows how to thread and I've watched her to do it AND IT IS THE COOLEST THING EVER. D:

I do, too, rye. I guess the hairs touch on some nerves or something!

This threading seems interesting, a massive plucking. No wonder it hurt!

Absolutely threading!

I don't think it's too painful. Just stings a little, but not too much worse than plucking. This thread reminds me that I need to go and get my eyesbrows done.

I've never even heard of threading! I will have to look it up later.

Recently, I've begun shaving around my eyebrows to shape them. It is one million times better than plucking, and it does the exact same thing. You just have to be careful.

I've had friends who can get away with shaving their eyebrows off and drawing them on instead (one girl's never grew back!) but I could never do it myself.

Ew, threading! D:

I prefer plucking.

I pluck. I use the anger and pain to fuel my massacres later in the week.

I never touch my eyebrows. I didn't realize eyebrow grooming was such a common practice o.o

The only thing I can add to this thread is that I know my mother gets her eyebrows threaded at the mall down the road. It looks smurfing crazy.

Also, I shave my face. Everything else is gay.

I don't like shaving, because the hair grows back quicker because you don't get as much of the hair out, and then you look funny. :mad2: I actually like plucking, and threading just stings. And it's faster than plucking.

I shave and trim my beard down to awesomeness once every three days.

I had a friend tell me she was getting her eyebrows threaded. I asked what it was and immediately regretted it.

I'm surprised that you find threading as 'ew' ....Threading is part of the culture here for women...The women in my family all do threading so this phenomena is not new for me....

Threading is more efficient but I don't need to pluck hairs, so I never have to do it.

Compare it to waxing....? I have never waxed either (don't need to) but I would hazard a guess it's less painful?

man you people. just shave

I trim my facial hair I don't shave :p

Shiny

I forgot trimming and there is also bleaching. I would never bleach my skin just to make the hairs invisible. Sounds very Michael Jackson.

What? Surely it's the hair, and not the skin you bleach, Shiny *bites*

In general i shave. When i have the money, i prefer waxing to threading as threading is WAY more painful.

I have a question I have a 4GB xbox 360 and i was wondering if anyone knew if i could save halo reach to it cause it says it requries a hard drive.

Wrong thread. This should have been posted in General Gaming Discussion or the Help Forum. I will answer it anyway. The answer is no. You will have to purchase an attachable hard drive. ~Shiny

I need confirmation of this too. I was thinking of bleaching my facial hair so that the hair gets burned and stops growing ^_^

I pluck my eyebrows, I'd like to get them waxed but that takes more effort and costs money, plus I'm scared it will hurt :/ And I've never heard of this threading thing before...

Shiny

I just shave my armpits since they don't grow that much. Waxing is too costly if you start adding on more body parts. xD

I got my eyebrows waxed today! They do it for a super cheap price at the place I get my nails done, so I got mah gurllll Helen to do them for me.

I've been converted. It is so painless, so quick, and they look a million times better and more even. They're not too thin, she shaped them nicely. I didn't even sneeze! Plus, I love the way my skin feels after waxing.

you're going to get bleach on your skin regardless. I'm not too worried about that except for my upper lip area bc the skin isn't as tough :p
