And I'll admit it, I used it religiously until, well, now. I know, I'm a loser.

Does anyone know any way I can get free music of whatever group/artist I want, almost any song, and fast without all the waiting bullcrap? Thanks.

With or without viruses?

Rye

I would recommend using torrents. It's very safe from viruses as you download from a community of torrent files that are rated and reviewed by people, so if any file is unsafe, it is taken off the website.

If you want to do that, download uTorrent and try sites like isohunt.com, the pirate bay, mininova, etc. If you want a code to Demonoid, let me know!

I'm shocked people even bother to use LimeWire still. Torrents are not a bad suggestion, but I'm hooked on Usenet.

Find more stuff easier, really fast direct downloads and no uploading required. Mmm, life is good. :)

I figured Limewire was shutdown years ago. I used to use it for MP3s until they completely changed the look and killed the ability to search by artist, title, etc, because at that point every damn result you got almost was fake.

Luckily that was about the time I finally switched from dialup to broadband so I just moved on to stealing all my music through torrents like the rest of the world.

Roto13

Now that I think about it, I used Limewire for about five minutes in 2004 before going "Let's see what this torrenting thing is about" and never looked back.

Your statement implied all record companies are automatons that treat their musicians badly (which is nonsense). Maybe that wasn't your intention at all though.

Using implications to support your statement is kinda silly. No, not all record companies treat their artists badly, but the majority of them do not treat them as commodities and usually screw them over after a certain point. I do not see how this is nonsense, as this has come from the typed and spoken words of several musicians.

I have no idea how to use torrents

Download torrent program (mentioned), find torrent site (also mentioned), download torrent (basic knowledge), click file after download is finished (basic knowledge), wait for torrent to finish, enjoy torrent.

But yeah, a lot of ISPs offer their own news servers. It's not so common anymore, though.

Really? I guess that's what I get for having TDS followed by Timer Warner.

I don't really know how it could be any better than a private torrent tracker though. Not that I know jack about it other than every time I looked into it the only option was to pay.

It's called living in an area full of ignorant rich people who don't know how to secure their wireless router.

Seriously though, I had free internet for seven years this way and I don't pay for my current internet connection. Free internet isn't the least bit difficult to get.

I imagine your comment was supposed to be a sarcastic jab at me, but I actually use my internet connection for things other than pirating stuff. But at the same time I actually don't pay for an internet connection either and never have. It's not hard. :p

What kind of argument is this? "You're already paying for internet, might as well pay some more"?

kotora
10-31-2010, 06:59 PM
he's saying that you're already paying for pirating stuff since most people pay for their internet anyway

rubah

except that's a silly argument, since most people would pay for the internet even if they didn't pirate stuff.

kotora

doesn't change the fact that the bandwidth you're paying for is used for pirating stuff instead of, for example, watching porn or educational stuff.

Mirage
11-01-2010, 03:18 PM
lots of people pay extra for extra fast internet without download limits, for the sole reason of downloading lots of pirated materials
i don't see how this is different from paying for a different kind of service that enables you to more easily download pirated stuff. Exactly how much is too much to pay isn't all that relevant, it all depends on how much money you're interested in putting into your piracy. my point is that this amount is very often more than 0.

Most people only need really basic cheap Internet plans. Those who pay extra for larger bandwidth and don't pirate are just wasting money, as that's really the only reasonable thing to do with such bandwidth for the average home Internet user.

In either case, most ISP's provide newsgroups to all their customers, so I don't know why we're arguing about paying extra to download stuff.

not an option over here (netflix and other streaming services that is), because apparently the interwebs are bound to geographical regions. And internet in Europe is on average much better than in the US, except in this :bou::bou::bou::bou:hole where I live of course.

There's always Bearshare and FrostWire or whatever the new ones are. I'm surprised P2P itself has survived this long. I was big into Napster, but everything pretty much died after that. I tried a few others but they were never worthwhile. So many fake files and viruses. I've pretty much stuck to torrents. But I do buy a lot of my music off this really cheap Russian music site that seems to get all our top music and boatloads of more obscure stuff that I like :}
