10.006 Points in CHocobo Hot & Gold! Now where's my life...

I'm on Disc 3, about to go to Terra, have all CHocographs, Eiko & Quina have all their abilities learned, most only need 1 or 2 more and...

I got it in my damn head to get that Robe of Lords from Mene before I went to Terra. So 390+ CHocobo Hot & Gold games later, I finally got 10.006 points and the Robe of Lords was mine! Mine! ^^

Who else was lifeless enough to actually bother getting so much points in CH&G? I did it all in Chocobo's Lagoon, because it's the best place. In Forest and Air Garden, you loose too much time searching for the next "Kweh?!" having to climb stumps or walk over clouds. In Lagoon, you don't have such distractions, so you can find treasures much faster and easier. Got some nifty elixirs, a wing edge, not to mention all chocographs and 99 dead peppers.

Most points I got in 1 game was 276. Your record?

Now, one thing keeps bothering me...

What oh what is that Moogle gonna do with all that gill he ripped off me, kupo?!

I know. But not on Disc 3. You can get it by stealing, too. But I didn't want to wait that long.

My record for points in a single game is around 300 I think. And I've grinded out all those points... countless times. I always get every item on the list at least once in every game I play, and then do even more CH&C. I love that mini game, it's my favorite part of FFIX.

I have on occasion gotten up to 3 Robe of Lords from H&C in one playthrough, plus the Viltgance card. I do love that minigame :jess:

W00t, must take lots of hours, guys! :D Don't you just hate it when CHoco says "Kweeehhh?!", meaning you're very close, but no matter how many times you dig, you don't hit the spot and the clock keeps ticking? I do love Chocobo Hot & Gold, but that's one aspect of it that I find frustrating.

I'm a bit dissapointed you don't get some kind of bonus or achievement or key item for getting 10.000+ points. :p Asking too much, I guess. :D

Also, it's very rare, but sometimes you can actually get equipment as treasures. The ones I remember getting are Extension and Circlet. I think I found 10000 gil once, too. A high amount, anyway.

Actually, there's a chance to get every single non key-item in the game from CH&C. Even an Ultimate Weapon can pop up with enough luck.

Most I got was 5000 Gil and a Wing Edge. I guess getting an Ultima Weapon would be even more lucky than getting the Zodiac Lance from the chest in the Henne Mines in XII, eh? Didn't know it was possible, though. Thanks for telling, Choco Boy.

And no, I may have no life but I'm not desperate enough to go dig for an Ultima Weapon. XD Especially not since you only need 1 anyway, and can get it right away of Disc 4 with Choco (if he's gold).

Yeah I wouldn't get my hopes up on finding any treasures rarer than say Phoenix Pinions from Hot & Cold. It's a nice surprise if you do, but it's definitely nothing to count on. I didn't know any item could be found though, that's cool!

I never bothered to get the robe, I quit the choco game after I got (NO JOKE) 545 give or take 10 points in one go!....

Its because I got like ten chocographs all at the same spot.

You accidentally said Gold and damn I never knew that you could get just about any item from hot and cold. majority of the time I get either gil, dead peppers, or healing items.

JUST SCANNED DISK4:
if you reach disk 4 before 12 hours the chance doubles until gameplay reaches 14 hours, also it becomes 4 times as likely, (which isnt that big of a difference) if you defeat the big round guy in air garden. It will not show up for some reason (unless I read the thing wrong which is definatively possible) if both Garnet and Quina are in the party, unless Steiner is also present. It will not show up if you have excalibur 1 equiped or if you own the other excalibur 2. Also, it will not show up if you have defeated the boss immediatly before Kuja in disk 4. Other than that, I dont know. plus, wow I havent ever gotten ultima wepon in any of them, whoever did must play a ton.

I'm not sure if anyone actually has, but it's in the game code. I think you can even get that after you've gotten the 1st copies of them, but I'm not positive about that.

You can get it without Hot&Cold. I think it's in a treasure in mapped in a chocograph. There isn't much incentive to grind for an item you can in less time for free. I think they should've replaced that with a key item like Master Hunter.

I only really bothered with CH&C until I got all the Chocographs. It was a fun minigame as far as they go, and I liked the music, which is very catchy. I don't think I ever really bothered to redeem my points, really. Certainly never enough to try and get the Robe of Lords anyway!

Actually, according to the previously linked chances, 1 in over 100 billion. That is much, much rarer. Your odds of winning the lottery are probably higher.

I was really bored one recent night, and I went from about 1,500 to 10,000 points in just a couple hours. Once you have an ocean chocobo, I find it really easy to get a few hundred points per game in the Lagoon.

I forgot to post this the last time I was in this thread, but there is one object that is even rarer than Excalibur II. at 1/3,212,321,232,123 an object that is listed simply as P is findable, but it doesnt seem to do anything from what I could gather. Extra code perhaps?

Getting thousands of points in that game was no big deal for me since I played it more than pretty much anything (bought all the items on that moogle's list, some multiple times). My only complaint about it is that I could reach the max amount of items you're allowed to find per game (8 I think it was) really fast in the ocean cave, but in the sky garden I hardly ever got more than 5 or 6 since it took too much time to run back and forth between the two floating islands. On that note I would think it would be best to stay at the cave to search for the sword if you want it since overall you could get a lot more chances in finding it even if the odds are slightly higher for the sky garden.
