View Full Version : Why do people blog/post/tweet?

That is kind of vague, but it gets the main idea down.
Why do some people blog, especially their hour-to-hour activities?
How come some tweet statuses up-to-the minute?

Do you think doing the blog/tweet/post thing is good or dangerous?
What about those who do it? Some are good, as a matter a fact, great. Do you think that some are attention grabbers?

Are sites like facebook, twitter ect. ruining our culture/society?

I think so, what about you? Ooh yeh: Jenova Project - Dj Datsik / youtube it if you haven't heard it. Great tune (in my mind).

Simple answer: People like to share their lives with others.

We are inherently social beings, no matter what hermit tells you otherwise. We want to share who we are, what we are doing, and when we are doing them with as many people as possible and feel like our lives have meaning because of it. Sharing events amplifies their importance. I am HAPPY! YOU SHOULD BE HAPPY FOR ME TOO! NOW WE ARE ALL HAPPY. THIS IS HAPPY x100.

See, amplification of emotion. Similar to the MAP-kinase cascade in cell signaling *nods*.

Why do people write about their lives on a Final Fantasy forum.

hey blackmage_nuke.
I'm dead serious.
Well I agree with all the replies. For the most part. I understand we are social beings, but there is a point where someone should say " That's great, but frankly I think you should see a therapist."

FOR SOME CASES.

Sharing with people is vital to society, especially friendships. What's the deal with trolling and such?

We are achieving a state of omnipresent, permanent, global interconnection.

And I for one couldn't be happier.

I think it's only really a problem if you're constantly posting where you are in a way that lets people know when you are out, how long you'll be out, and how much time they have to rob you.

It makes people believe they actually matter, when they drop their digital turds on the internet and have others read them

Yeah. Foursquare is pretty retarded to use, in my opinion.

Otherwise, I like it. I like to know the tiny details of people's lives. It's flavorful.

I love the age of blogging and twitter. It's really helped out my business.

I like posting here on the forums because it's a great way for me to interact with like minded people who I consider my friends, at least for the most part.

I think blogs are todays version of a diary, except public. You write about your life online as opposed to in that notebook on the nightstand next to your bed. Not to say that people don't still do that, of course.

As for twitter, I don't use it. I personally don't feel like people need to know what I'm doing every 5 minutes. I like to contribute my thoughts on topics that I can discuss with others, but I don't really feel the need to say "Just came back from the movies" or "I slept for too long". I'll save that for the "what are you doing?" on my facebook ; )

If only we could have the convenience of smoke signals and messenger doves back. Nobody had anything to complain about in the good old days.

I personally like most of the new forms of life sharing. While Twitter and Foursquare get a tad ridiculous at times, it's fun to get online and know about what your friends are up to. It connects us all in a way unique to this era.

Also you can follow celebrities on Twitter and pretend you're a part of their lives.

I'm not complaining, and smoke signals wouldn't be that effective. Doves on the other hand would be cool.
I agree with the lonewolf. Forums are sik, twitter is kind of dumb. If you overuse it, but I can see the good use of it..
I do however like the forums better, especially better than facebook.

I wouldn't mind so much if the people who were doing it were intelligent. I just get continuous crap that I have to translate to find out there isn't any meaning to it anyway, they really are just mental.
