This topic is all about, anagrams, portmanteaus, backward spellings, and other kind of word games. Such as finding a word that sounds like another: loil sounding like loyal. This is likely to range from all of the games! But please indicate which game and wither or not it's the Japanese, or another language. Most of these are likely coincidental - but might be relevant to the character, item, creature, or location!

In FF7, Cloud Strife is an anagram of cued florist and escort fluid? Why that has any relevance, well dolphins live in the sea - a kind of fluid. Also Aerith is a florist, and flowers grow on the ground - mostly.

In FF7, Ifanla is an anagram of a final, that's her American name! Her JV name is anagram of final, here's why: her name is written as イファルナ IFARUNA which is an anagram of ファイナル FAINARU. I guess she was the last, final, pure Cetra.

In FF1 & FF9, Garland is an anagram of Dang Gar.

Do you have any others?

PS: A backward spelling would be like writing Tifa as Afit, or backwards.

Heh! That's amusing.

Ochu from FF8 (and others) is an anagram of Ouch.

Haha! That's neat!

Hm, Quina from FF9 is an anagram of a quin with quin meaning five - as in a quintet.

Edit More
The surname Heartilly, from FF8, is a pun on heartily - as in 'laughing heartily'.

From FF7: Aerith is an anagram of the air, I heart, Earth I, and Earith while her Americanized name Aeris is an anagram of is aer, raise, arise, Aesir, and Aries. Her name, in Japanese script, which is エアリス Earisu contains エア Ea which is what the Japanese use for the English word air. It should be noted that Earith is what Square originally meant for Aerith's name, and her name is meant to be the English word earth - only they went from Japanese to English and back to Japanese (a bad idea if you ask me). Also both aer and aeris are Latin for air, atmosphere, ether, and weather.

FF8: Squall is written as スコール Sukōru, スコール is also the Japanese name for the Norse deity named Sköll (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sköll).
