I was thinking about writing a fanfic for IX eventually and I was trying do decide for some possible topics. I am looking for back stories which didn't get much attention in the game.
Ones I can think of

How Beatrix became General and lost her eye

Cid and Hilda's relationship before she left

How Zidane met Tantalus (I am still curious about this to this day. I'm not sure if he was a baby or already a teenager when he arrived on Gaia)

Madain Sari's Destruction (Involves the tribe of Summoners, exploring their background, culture, rituals, etc. Along with Garnet and Eiko's biological parents and Eiko's grandfather)

I'll post my fanfic in the Writer's section whenever I get through with it. Please give me your suggestions and any ideas you may have.

Great idea, try adding something about Amarant and the Gluttons

Ooh, I love the Beatrix idea. Would go well with Kate Covington's version of "Rose of May".

The Epic Journey of the Black Mages to the Outer Continent!

The story of the relationship between Quale and Vivi's grandfather.

The tale of events that placed Ipsen's Castle in the state it is today.

Maybe a story devoted to Tantalus' perspective of events occurring throughout the story. (the game did a nice job doing that though I must say!). Maybe Blank was aware of his petrified state the entire time or something.

At one point Steiner says he has experienced war in the past, maybe something that revolves around a younger Steiner going into battle.

Here's a cool little page.

Final Fantasy IX/Timeline - The Final Fantasy Wiki has more Final Fantasy information than Cid could research (http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Final_Fantasy_IX_Timeline)

Hey thanks for that.

The ninth Lindblum war takes place. General Magdalene of Alexandria and nine soldiers take on the entire Lindblum army and wins.

From the game it said she fought in the war, but I never knew that she defeated the entire army. She's more badass than Beatrix. Beatrix may have killed 100 people by herself, but she never defeated an entrie army with just ten soldiers and at the age of only 13. They sound like they might even be as or more powerful than the cast in the story.

Something I noticed in that time-line that sounds wrong. It takes the party three days to get to the Desert Palace, but it only takes them one day to get back from Esto Gaza. WTF?

This is a lot of stuff to cover so I'll probably only pick a couple of topics to cover in this. It sounds like Zidane was seven when he arrived on Gaia. That was very extensive. Thank you for that.

I imagine the timeline is rough, as there's no day/night cycle.

There are days and nights in IX. Whenever you go to Treno it's always night, but there were two events during the course of the game where you were in Alexandria at night, Lindblum at night, The Black Mage village at night, and Madain Sari at night.

Right now I have two votes for Beatrix
Suggestion for Ipsen's Castle
Suggestion for the Qu's
Suggestion for Quale and Quan
Suggestion for Black Mages journey to the Outer Continent and forming of the Black Mage Village.
Suggestion for Amarant

Maybe Blank was aware of his petrified state the entire time or something.

Oh my god! That would be awesome!

To me that would be a comedy though. "I... I have an itch!"

There's too many awesome things about this game to narrow it down imo. Personally I would have loved to to have learned more about the Black Waltz'. Perhaps that, coupled with the suggestion for the Black Mage journey and your own idea about how Zidane ended up with Tantalus, you could get a good story going on the Genome/Black Mage projects and the link between them.

Just a thought. :monster:

Exploring Freya and Sir Fratley's past in greater depth would be interesting.

I like the idea of the black mages getting to the outer continent!

I second Quin's idea. I'd really like to know all about Sir Fratley and his quest, what he experiences, how his life with Freya was before he left, and perhaps even some extra history about Cleyra and Burmecia.

I have a bit more free time now so I might work on one of these in the future. I'm still undecided as to which one I'll do.
