I've been thinking about this for a bit, but I'm confused about the physical appearances of some of the summons - mainly those in FF7, FF8, and FF9. The reason I'm asking is because I'm thinking about writing something pertaining to the summons in question, I may or may not write some of the things that I think could relate to the summon in question.
The first creature I'm puzzled about is Carbuncle, I have a very good reason to believe that the gemstone on its forehead is a carbuncle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbuncle_%28gemstone%29). I also think it's fur is aqua-green and that it has either amber colored eyes or a blue garnet colored eyes. I also think that it has one tail that is almost as long as its body is.
Another is the Mu, I think if FF9 it has a sky blue fur with an ivory white underside, and red eyes, and one tail; the friendly version (which seems to be more inline with the other games in the series) seems to have sand brown fur with light blue eyes and a white underside.
If any one has thoughts about these - and others - that 'd be nice.

Do a google image search on "carbuncle" and there is more than enough reason to be confused.

Yeah. I'm asking for opinions on their physical appearance, and likely abilities. Those opinions and theories would surely help in some fashion.
I'm thinking of writing some some sort of in-game book which would be about bestial, zoology, or something of that nature. I do know that one could never - if at all - really read a book like that, but I thought it'd be interesting to do.
I was thinking of writing something like this (Pleas tell me if you like the idea):
Edit: My mom read the below, and pointed a few things out. Those should be fixed now.
Carbuncle
A cat-like creature with a tail almost as long as its body, with aqua-green fur and bright amber colored eyes. Its ears are twice as large as that of a domestic cat. An oval red carbuncle is on its forehead - very much like a third eye, the gem seemed to reflect light. It is a Carbuncle, a creature of lore.
Many claim that its eyes are like blue garnets, other state that the gem on its forehead is a red ruby or a red garnet. It's also said that it has three tails instead of one. It's gender is unknown.
Legend says that a Carbuncle could cast one thing - a spell which reflected spells cast upon a living being, that spell was called Ruby Light. Legends also holds that it also has the ability to cast a spell that will cause its target to move quickly - that spell, some say, is called Emerald Light. Some sources say that it is able to cast a spell to make its target immune to physical attacks which, some say, is called Diamond Light. According to legends, a Carbuncle can cast a spell that halves the amount of harm its target receives from a magical attack, which - many claim - is called Pearl Light. Others say it casts - along with it Light spell - some sort of protection.
There are some who claim that they can call forth a Carbuncle through the use of a gemstone which is often a red ruby, some say they use a white diamond, a green emerald, or a white moonstone. They call themselves Summoners, these Summoners claim that they use a chant to call a Carbuncle - that chant, they say, is normally a mental chant, as they rarely voice their chant. There is a voiced chant, some Summoners state, which is “Oh, light of safety, shine upon us. Ruby Light!” - and substituting Ruby Light with one of the other three known abilities.

Yeah, there is something known as carbuncle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbuncle) which is "a carbuncle is an abscess larger than a boil".
Thanks for that comment.
