It's that time again! For eight years we've played EoFF Fantasy Baseball and for eight years those blasted California Angles have won. Someone here has to stop those bastards! Or at least have fun playing for second place. :p

Only 9 teams this year? I guess that will work.

Current draft time is set for Saturday March 19 at 11AM PST. Don't be late!

Looks like my hold on first place is coming to an end. :( Hopefully I'll retake it back soon! :D It's been a little over a month now.

I was on vacation. Did I have first for a few days? It seems like the standings are the same as when I left.

I will not lie, this will be a tough win. It will basically come down to who has the hot players in the end.

Not having a solid RF has hurt me. Beltran has been terrible for the Giants and he was only ok for the Mets to begin with. I should have traded him earlier because he's a big name and would get some draw. I should have made a trade in general. Your blockbuster deals have definitely been a driving force in your current standing.

Really, my only mistakes have been when I missed those two ace performances from Haren and CC because I forgot to sub them in on their days. It was something like 2QS, 2W, 20K, 0ER, 1BB... in fact I think Haren had a no-hitter going into the 8th inning in that game.

My goal this year was to remain as competitive as possible in every category and not punt on some of them. I always seem to lag behind in power numbers, so every move I made was to try and strengthen those, even at the cost of other numbers. Home runs are not as easy to obtain as they used to and this is the first time in years that I feel like I'm getting good power production out of more then just one or two players.

Still, there's a 1/4 of the season to go, no time to let up yet.

Take care all.

I usually punt the speed categories. Well, not entirely but I generally ignore them as a priority and instead look for power guys who will sneak 10-15 steals a year. Near the end of the season is where I try to pad my speed stats because by then I have a wide margin in the power numbers. Oh, I do try to have one triples specialist on my team. The plan was for it to be Drew this year but then he had that nasty injury.

The two most important stats in our league are HR and K/BB. My K/BB sucks this year and that is why I am not winning. Good pitching is too abundant this year. Same with steals. That makes it hard when your strategy is to find value in situations where it is scarce. I miss the steroid days.

I'm really glad I ended up with Ben Zobrist this season, as he was my specialty player, someone I could plug in at first, second and the outfield. He had an awful year last season and was primed to bounce back, which he has. He's exactly the player I needed because he hits for decent average, hits 15-20 HR's, and will steal about 15 bases.

On a slightly unrelated note, I very much enjoy playing against you guys because you are always keeping me on my toes. Even in years when Del was running away with the league, most of us stick it out until the bitter end, which makes everything that much more fun.

Take care all.

Yeah, you can always count on Champ to be right there at the end. I always thought he'd be the one to beat me.

Looks like it's over. I'm never one to quit but I also do mathematical projections for a living, and the numbers are just not in my favor. There is very little I can do since most categories we are close to each other in actually have me ahead. So believe it or not there is even more you could be doing to widen the gap. Barring some catastrophic collapse from your team or some surge from the other teams to eat at your score, there's not really much that can be done.

I'm not too upset because I can't really think of what I could have done differently to win. My current score would definitely be good enough to have won in the past. So it's all you. I'm still not sure how pulled this one out from under me. Clearly with pitching, but my pitching hasn't been bad. I think my main issue is that I still have the steroid-era mentality of an ERA under 4.00 being pretty good for a SP. So when I looked at my staff with guys like Chacin and Nolasco they were 'good enough' and I didn't bother making moves or check how far behind my ratios were in the standings.

The season's not over yet but I am quietly confident that I am finally putting together everything I learned from playing against you and everyone else over the years.

I'll post a more indepth breakdown as the end gets closer, but I took your formula for success and flipped it a bit.

Take care all.

Final three days, final three teams. Should be a finish for the ages. Any one of us could get it!
