I've noticed a lot of you assholes don't read the announcements. Do you?

Can you make them flash, sparkle, or otherwise notice-garnering? Shifting my eyes up another few degrees is taking a toll on my back.

Not really, no. Are they important? I read the announcement titles, sometimes.

Announcements are always important. It would be pretty cool if they were highlighted a different colour for each user until they were marked as read, though. Don't know why that isn't an in-built feature.

That's a good idea. Make Rantz invent it.

I don't read them because they're that faded gray, like links I've already clicked on.

If it's that important it will probably show up in my face whenever I absent-mindedly click on 'new thread'

That's it, we're making the announcements into pop-ups.

I made a very eye-catching style for unread announcements. Check out the General Archive in EoFF Classic (http://forums.eyesonff.com/general-archive/?styleid=67) to see it.

Usually the information in the announcements is boring and unimportant. Make them exciting and I might read them.

I always read announcements as I eagerly await the day Amanda is booted off staff.

I've read them the past couple weeks, but before that hardly ever.

I always read announcements. About three years ago I didn't, and I missed something important. Moral of the story: Always read the announcements.

What a chilling story!

BTW, who wants to host EoFF prom this year?

Does reading the same old announcements over and over again instead of reading the new ones count?

Unless it includes something I want to read about, then no.

Usually no, until something weird happens on the forum that I think should be explained in an announcement. Like why everyone suddenly had LotR themes in the staff. But then that stuff is never mentioned in announcements. So they serve no purpose to me. I'm not a popular VIP member like a lot of people. So announcements regarding Ciddies and new cids knights and stuff really don't impact me either. So in short, the announcements usually have nothing to do with me and have no impact on my life here. Maybe if they did I'd pay attention. But if getting users to read announcements were that important, there'd be a block of code dedicated to making new announcements show up at the top of a thread you click on, and then the announcement is marked as read and doesn't show up anymore. Then we'd always read new announcements right away before our next foray into another topic

I always read them when I notice there's a new one, but I don't always notice that there is a new one. :monster:

I would probably read them more if they displayed the messages when i mouse hover over them like threads.

I'll read them, but please don't make them pop-up

Nope never read them. I don't particually care what they have to say unless they directly involve either me or one of my loved ones, that is to say, just me.
